Every year in India, the 26th of January is celebrated as Republic Day, the day when the Constitution of India came into force. The celebration is very special because of the parade on Raj Path (Delhi), performances by the Indian Armed Forces, and the charming tableaux from various parts of India.

This year, a troop of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces, comprising of 122 people, will also take part in the 72nd Republic Day parade of India. Bangladesh is celebrating their 50th year of Independence, which they gained after the 1971 War with the help of India, and the 100th birth anniversary of the Father of their Nation, Sheikh Majibur Rehman.

This is the first time Bangladesh's Armed Forces will be a part of India's Republic Day. In fact, this will be the third time any country will be a part of the Republic Day celebrations in India. Before this France in 2016 and UAE in 2017 participated in the parade.

The Bangladesh troop performing in the parade has 2 contingents. The first one is the marching contingent, with representatives from the Army, Navy and Air Force of Bangladesh. The second contingent is the Brass Band contingent, who will be playing musical equipment and marching behind the first contingent.

We heartily welcome our neighbourhood friend Bangladesh in our 72nd Republic Day parade. We are as excited to watch them as they are to perform here.

And in the end, we just wonder, how nice it would be have been if every nation sent their representatives on such remarkable days and promoted brotherhood & harmony in the world.
