25 James Bond Movies That Take You On A Trip Down Your Memory Lane

Growing up, I’m sure all of us must have fantasised about being in of the James  Bond movies, creating various scenarios in our head, like- what would it feel like to wear the black and white tuxedo Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale or the one Sean Connery sported in Dr No?!

We’d all be lying to ourselves if we are not going to admit that in our childhood days, we have stood in front of the mirror, pretending to have a cigar between our teeth and trying to perfect the most famous dialogue from all the Bond movies- “ My name is Bond, James Bond.” 

Such is the impact of this legendary literary character that was created by novelist Ian Fleming in 1953. Bond is also known by the code number 007 and, like Fleming, was portrayed as a Commander in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and World War II veteran. Fleming based his fictional creation on several individuals he came across during his time in the Naval Intelligence Division and 30 Assault Unit during the Second World War, admitting that Bond "was a compound of all the secret agents and commando types I met during the war"

Based on his numerous novels, this character of James Bond was adopted into TV, radio, comics and was finally brought to life in Dr No by Terence Young in the year 1962. Since then, a total of 26 Bond movies have been released with seven different actors playing the character. This series of James Bond has a cult following with innumerable Bond enthusiasts all over the world. In 2015 the series was estimated to be worth $19.9 billion, making James Bond one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.

1) Dr. No (1962) - Sean Connery

This was the very first in the James Bond movies list, where Sean Connery is seen enjoying the long-lasting character. within the film that launched the James Bond heroic tale. In the film, Agent 007 (Sean Connery) battles mysterious Dr No, a scientific genius bent on destroying the U.S. space program.

2) From Russia with Love (1963) -Sean Connery

In this action thriller, Agent 007 makes a comeback in the second instalment of the James Bond series, this time battling a secret crime organization known as Spectre.

3) Goldfinger (1964) - Sean Connery

In this blockbuster James Bond movie, MI6 agent  Bond investigates a gold-smuggling ring run by businessman Auric Goldfinger. The suspense and mystery in the movie will surely keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

4) Thunderball (1965) - Sean Connery 

Thunderball is the fourth film in the James Bond movies list and the fourth to star Sean Connery as  Agent 007. James Bond heads to The Bahamas to recover two nuclear warheads stolen by Spectre agent Emilio Largo in an international extortion scheme.

5) You Only Live Twice (1967) - Sean Connery

Set in Japan, You Only Live Twice is the fifth official James Bond movie in the list. A hollowed‑out volcano, a rocket‑firing gyrocopter, and an army of ninjas battling the forces of villainous organisation are all elements that make a great film. Watch it for yourself and decide the rest.

6) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) - George Lazenby

In this James Bond movie, George Lazenby who plays the character of  Bond is assigned a mission to defeat Blofeld, who hypnotizes beautiful women to realise his evil motives. Meanwhile, he falls dotty with the crime lord's daughter.

7) Diamonds Are Forever (1971) - Sean Connery 

This sci-fi thriller revolves around James Bond posing as Peter Franks to uncover a diamond smuggling conspiracy. It has an amazing plot with great stunts, snappy dialogue and a bevy of typically Bondish beauties for unlimited entertainment.

8) Live and Let Die (1973) - Roger Moore

With this as the eighth in the James Bond movies list, Roger Moore became the 3rd lucky actor to personify the heroic character of James Bond. Set  in the picturesque backdrop of New Orleans, the movie is certain to please you with its aesthetics and gripping plot.

9) The Man with The Golden Gun (1974) - Roger Moore

In this James Bond movie, “The  man with the golden gun”  James Bond is encompassed with the task of recovering a device that can harness solar energy. 007 is sent to retrieve a gadget called the solex agitator something that can tackle and manipulate the power of the sun and keep it from a hitman scaramanga. Although not one of the best James Bond movies, it is an entertaining watch.

10) The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) - Roger Moore

The Spy Who Loved Me is generally the most critically acclaimed of Roger Moore's seven-film tenure as James Bond and is frequently lauded as one of the greatest  James Bond movies of all time.

11) Moonraker (1979) - Roger Moore

In this action-packed adventure, Agent 007 blasts into orbit that takes him to Venice, Rio De Janeiro and outer space.

12) For Your Eyes Only (1981) - Roger Moore

This James Bond movie is consistently lighthearted and comedic, giving a slightly different angle to the serious storyline. It is yet another 007 classic! Roger Moore returns as the British secret service agent. This time he's seeking a missile command system and getting mixed up in lies and deception with greek businessmen along with a woman seeking vengeance for the murders of her parents. 

13) Octopussy (1983) - Roger Moore

After the comedown of “For Your Eyes Only”, the series makes a comeback with its thirteenth James Bond movie supported by a compelling and exciting plot. Octopussy is a good-natured, thrilling escapade that boasts an impressive roster of villains.

14) A View To A Kill (1985) - Roger Moore

The 14th movie in the James Bond movie list is a spy movie titled A View To A Kill. Roger Moore is charismatic even at 57, and the site locations are stunning. One should not miss the fight on the Golden Gate Bridge and the music, which made a high point.

15) The Living Daylights (1987) - Timothy Dalton

In this spectacular James Bond movie, Agent 007 is seen confronting and defeating an arms dealer who is conspiring with a Soviet general to start another world war for profit.

16) Licence to Kill (1989) - Timothy Dalton 

Timothy Dalton who has taken on the character of the legendary spy in this long list of James Bond movies takes matters into his own hands to take revenge from the drug lord who injured his friend, Felix Leiter.

17) GoldenEye (1995) - Pierce Brosnan

In this James Bond movie, he scenic beauty of Russia provides a perfect backdrop for  Agent 007, and his friend  Natalia Simonav who are on a mission to locate the satellite nuclear weapon stolen by Alec, a former agent, who Bond believed was dead.

18) Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) - Pierce Brosnan

Tomorrow never dies is yet another mega-hit James  Bond movie wherein our hero, James Bond ventures on a journey to prevent a media baron, from waging a war between China and the United Kingdom after he is summoned by the Secret Intelligence Service.

19) The world is not enough(1999) - Pierce Brosnan

While on the duty of protecting the daughter of an oil tycoon, Bond uncovers a dangerous nuclear plot. This James Bond movie offers an intriguing and interesting plot.

20) Die Another Day (2002) - Pierce Brosnan

Die Another Day is a fun James Bond entry. It is one of the best in James Bond movie series after GoldenEye and Skyfall. The first action scene was really amazing and it continued till the end.

21) Casino Royale (2006) - Daniel Craig

This is one of the most popular in the James Bond movies list, where Special Agent James Bond embarks on a mission to prevent Le Chiffre, a mob banker, from winning a high stakes poker game.

22) Quantum of Solace (2008) - Daniel Craig

Bond sets off on a mission to save the day when he discovers Dominic Greene, a world-renowned developer of green technology. assists a couple in Bolivia to fulfil his intentions. This is one of the most applauded performances of Daniel Craig in his long list of James Bond movies.

23) Skyfall (2012) - Daniel Craig

When James Bond's latest assignment goes wrong, it leads to a calamitous turn of events: Undercover agents around the world are exposed, and MI6 is attacked, forcing M to relocate the agency. This James Bond movie is sure to amuse you with its turning points in its plot.

24) Spectre (2015) - Daniel Craig

On receiving an obscure message from M about a menacing organisation, 'SPECTRE', James Bond along with the help of Madeleine, uncovers the conspiracy, only to face an ugly truth.

25) No Time to Die (2020) - Daniel Craig

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, No Time To Die is a yet to release James Bond movie. Daniel Craig is hanging up his Beretta, his tux and sky-blue swimming briefs and bowing out of the 007 role with this latest Bond thriller!
