IPL(Indian Premier League) is not just a league. It is like a festival for cricket lovers in India. People all over the Indian subcontinent are crazy about it. 

But astonishingly, India isn’t the only country where people are crazy about IPL. According to a global report, IPL has become the second most popular cricket league after the Big Bash League of Australia.

IPL starts in the month of April every year and continues for about one & half month. There are multiple matches of IPL scheduled each day in this time span. People are ready to miss everything for watching their favorite teams on the cricket field.

However this year, in 2019, because of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, IPL is scheduled to begin from March 23, 2019. The final match of IPL shall be played on May 12, 2019.

IPL 2019 will the 12th season of IPL since its inception and as usual, fans are already going crazy about it. 

In the IPL auction for the upcoming season, for the first time, the franchises focused on uncapped players more and invested hugely to bring them in their respective teams. As a result, many famous players went unsold in the IPL Auction for the 2019 edition.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Team for IPL 2019

Starting with one of the favorites of all time, and three times champions, also the defending champions for 2019, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) just bought 2 players for IPL 2019.

CSK bought Mohit Sharma (Bowler) back in their Whistle Podu Army for 5 crores and Ruturaj Gaikwad (Batsman) for 20 lakhs. They had a total of 8.4 crores budget and spent 5.2 crores in adding these two players in their squad, saving 3.2 crores for the further auction.

MI bought Barinder Singh Sran (Bowler) for 3.4 crores, Lasith Malinga (Bowler) for 2 crores, Yuvraj Singh (All-Rounder) for 1 crore, Anmolpreet Singh (Batsman) for 80 lacs, Pankaj Jaiswal (All-Rounder) and Rasikh Dar (Bowler) for 20 lacs each.

King Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) invested a lot and bought 8 players for the 2019 edition of IPL. They have been two-time champions for IPL and have their spirits high this year.

KKR bought Carlos Brathwaite (All-Rounder) for 5 crores, Lockie Ferguson (Bowler) for 1.6 crores, Joe Denly (Batsman) for 1 crore, Harry Gurney (Bowler) for 75 lacs, Nikhil Shankar Naik (Wicket-Keeper), Shrikant Mundhe (All-Rounder), Prithvi Raj Yarra (Bowler) and Anrich Nortje (Bowler) for 20 lacs each.

KXIP bought Varun Chakravarthy (All-Rounder) for 8.4 crores, Sam Curran (All-Rounder) for 7.2 crores, Mohammed Shami (Bowler) and Prabhsimran Singh (Wicket Keeper) for 4.8 crores each, Nicolas Pooran (Wicket Keeper) for 4.2 crores, Moises Henriques (All-Rounder) for 1 crore, Hardus Viljoen (Bowler) for 75 lacs, Darshan Nalkande (All-Rounder) for 30 lacs, Sarfaraz Naushad Khan (All-Rounder) for 25 lacs, Arshdeep Singh (Bowler), Agnivesh Ayachi (All-Rounder), Harpreet Brar (All-Rounder) and M. RCB bought Shivam Dube (All-Rounder) for 5 crores, Shimron Hetmyer (Batsman) for 4. 2 crores, Akshdeep Nath (All-Rounder) for 3.6 crores, Prayas Ray Barman (All-Rounder) for 1.5 crores, Himmat Singh (Batsman) for 65 lacs, Gurkeerat Singh Mann (All-Rounder) and Heinrich Klaasen (Wicket Keeper) for 50 lacs each, Devdutt Padikkal (Batsman) and Milind Kumar (All-Rounder) for 20 lacs each.

IPL 2019 will be hosted by India only. Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators(SC-CoA) had announced this news on January 8, 2019(Tuesday). Around 20 venues in India are decided to host this years IPL.

IPL 12th season was earlier supposed to be held in Dubai/Abu Dhabi. It’s would have been the second time in the past 11 years, that IPL would be going to hosted outside India. 

Due to Lok Sabha elections in India, the sports authorities wanted to avoid disruptions and damage to people, and hence, thought of hosting IPL 2019 outside the country. But now the SC-CoA had confirmed that IPL 12th season will be held in India only.

The second edition of IPL in 2009 was hosted outside India due to the Lok Sabha elections. South Africa welcomed it happily, but the Indian fans were not much happy as they were not able to support their teams by cheering them up in the stadium.
