While at the 2018 UP Mango Festival, you will not just see the mangoes enjoying their special day but also see the people enjoying their company. At the Mango festival, people are talking mangoes, discussing mangoes, tasting mangoes and celebrating mangoes. Man-goes to mangoes!!
This is all because, the festival is dedicated to adding a lot of value to your love for mangoes. It is packed with all the requisite attractions – Mangoes, food, music, dance, storytelling, theme dressing, cooking contests, online events, and much more.
Tractor will take you on the tour to the Orchards
The festival is well organised by the team and is spread over a span of three days this year. On the 17th June 2018, people will set out in the morning from the happy street of Lucknow for the Orchard visit to the Abbasi Orchard, Kakori (13 kms from Lucknow).
People on board will cherish the fresh morning breeze rejuvenating their souls. They will witness the golden hue of the sunrise over the trees bringing them indescribable solace. Besides, they can ride the Tractor in the orchard and taste freshly plucked mangoes.
This unique eco-tourism experience is an intrinsic part of the Mango Festival as it gives an opportunity to the mango growers to come in direct touch with people who can support them. There are no middlemen or corporations making hefty profits with mangoes here. And that has made all the difference!
Boxes of mangoes will pull you at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan
After the successful prelude to the Mango Festival 2018, there will be a two day mango display show on 23rd and 24th June 2018 at IGP (Indira Gandhi Pratishthan), Lucknow.
People walk into the venue dressed in yellow attires, click selfies with mangoes, talk to mango growers and buy mango recipes. They get to know the self-help groups that come to the festival from across Uttar Pradesh.
The two day show at IGP has everything that will engage consumers with the delectable mango fruit.
But why just two or three days to celebrate the difference mangoes make in our lives?
UP Mango Festival 2018 has moved into its 6th year and has been one of the most awaited events for fruit lovers across the nation. However, most of the general public is unaware of the types of mangoes or mango varieties we have mentioned above.
Besides this, they even don’t know that just like animal species become endangered and then extinct, a lot many mango varieties are already endangered. And if we, as a society don’t look after them or continue their cultivation, we will be responsible for making them extinct.
Mango is the national fruit of India. If we don’t create awareness about this today, our future generations might only see mangoes in the photos available on Google!
We need to support the local mango growers
Not only for preserving the mango varieties, but also for providing them a competitive edge over the commercial private sector mango growers. It would provide a great boost to local economic progress.
It can be achieved by raising awareness and by helping them in fighting the constraints that hinder mango productivity. It can be extended by helping them to seize opportunities at local, national and international levels.
This aim of UP Mango Festival 2018 is supported by Awadh Mango Growers, NABARD, Habibullah Estate, National Horticulture Board, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, Uttar Pradesh Government and UPHRA.
