Whenever we talk about Bollywood Movies, one Movie that definitely crosses our mind is “Sholay”. This movie was released in the year 1975 and had an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bacchan, Dharmendra, Hema Mailini, Amjad Khan. The movie is one of the most famous and well remembered movies of that time.
The movie is famous for everything whether it is story or the action scenes, everything has its own spark. But the thing which won the audiences heart were the famous sholay dialogues which are still used in many local street plays.
They were written by Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan, yes the duo was enough to rule hearts!

1) “Basanti in Kutto ke Samne mat Nachna”
The person who isn’t aware of this sholay dialogue might have never watched a bollywood movie or might have stayed away from the television set from the time he/she was born. This sholay dialogue appeared in the anti climax scene where Veeru was tied up with ropes and Gabbar asked Basanti to dance to save Veeru’s life!
2) “Arey O Sambha! Kitne Aadmi the?”
Well, I have assumed that you might be fully aware of this scene and who said this to whom? Yes, you got this one right! This Sholay Dialogue was spoken by the famous characters of all time “Gabbar” to his most trusted ally “Sambha”! This dialogue has a separate fan base and people use this to make their scripts much more interesting!
3) “Ye haath mujhe dede Thakur!”
Well, Gabbar repeated this dialogue two three times before actually taking “Thakur Singh’s hands” so that this dialogue makes a connection with the audience in a short matter of time! This is one of the most popular sholay dialogues to be spoken by “Gabbar”!
4) “Yahan se pachas pachas kos door gaon mein … jab bachcha raat ko rota hai, toh maa kehti hai bete soo ja … soo ja nahi toh Gabbar Singh aa jayega”

6) “Tumhara naam kya hai Basanti?”
Do you remember the Tonga scene when Basanti gave a lift to Jai and Veeru? Basanti didn't know that they already knew her name but got to know when Jai spoke this famous sholay dialogue!
7) “Yunki, ye kon bola?”
The Iconic character “Basanti” had some popular Sholay Dialogues revolving around her and this is one of them! Imagine you are praying to god and suddenly god starts answering you back! Your reaction would be the same as Basanti!

10) “Yeh Ramgarh wale apni chokariyon ko kaun chakki ka aatta khilate hain…”
“Basanti” was very beautiful. She had a good heart and danced so well! Even “Gabbar” could not stop himself from admiring her beauty, that too in front of “Veeru”. Well, was it done to tease Veeru or Gabbar wanting to win Basant’s heart? This can be found out once you watch the movie!
11) “Yeh hath hath nahi, phansi ka fanda hai!”
Welcome Mr.Thakur to the list of these famous sholay dialogues, even he had some of the best in the movie. This Sholay Dialogue was said when years ago Thakur got hold of “Gabbar” and grabbed his neck by his arms and all of us thought this is the end of “Gabbar”!
12) “Duniya ki kissi jail ki deewar itnee pakki nahi ki Gabbar ko bees baras rakh sake”
Was this confidence or “Gabbar’s” over confidence? Well, I would say this was the truth! Gabbar was immensely powerful and intelligent! HAd he used his brain cells in the development of the country, the county would have been shown as a digital country in those times! This Sholay dialogue is still used by local goons who end up landing in jail!
13) “Hum Angrezon Ke Zamane Ke Jailor Hain!”
Here is a question for you all! How many of you remember the Jail where Jai and Veeru were spending their days before Thakur called them for his help?
Wel, if not then let me help you get familiar with this dialogue! This sholay dialogue was said by the Jailor as he thought he was the best Jailor in the country!
14) “Aadhe idhar jao… aadhe idhar ja… aur baaki hamare saath aao”
The Jailor has some infamous dialogues, and this sholay dialogue by the Jailor was said to maintain discipline in the jail. The jailor was a funny man and this scene of Sholay is memorable just because of this dialogue.
15) “Jab tak tere pair chalenge iski saans chalegi”
This sholay dialogue by “Gabbar” was a threat to Basanti so as to save Veeru’s life. This dialogue was a famous one and is still loved by the audience.
After this dialogue is spoken the famous song “Jab tak hai jaan jane jahan mai naachungi” is played!
16) “Bhaaaag Dhanno bhaag aaj teri Basanti ki izzat ka sawal hai”
How many of you know “Dhanno”? If you don’t remember her then let me tell you that she was Basanti’s horse which she had tied up to a tonga and Basanti’s Tonga was very famous in Ramgarh just because of “Dhanno”. In the scene where one of the most popular Sholay dialogues comes in, Gabbar's men are following Basanti’s tonga!
17) “Gabbar se keh dena ki Ramgarhwaalon ne paagal kutton ke saamne roti daalna band kar diya hai”
Seems like Gabbar used to take rotis from the villagers to fill up his stomach! No, but he used to take all the Ration from the villagers as a debt. One day when his men came to collect the ration. Thakur said this sholay dialogue and didn't let them take any debts.
18) “Loha abhi garam hai, maar do hathoda”
Jai and Veeru were hired by Thakur to take revenge from Gabbar. Thakur didn't have his hands but he knew when to do what. He used to guide them and tell them what to do when. This sholay dialogue was said when Thakur found the right opportunity to get hold of Gabbar!
19) “Woh do the aur tum teen, phir bhi waapas aagaye… khaali haath. Kya samaz kar aaye the? Sardar bahot kush hoga? Sabasi dega?”
The famous Sholay character “Gabbar” had the best dialogues and this one is the most famous among all. All of us remember the sequence when “Gabbar’s” three men were defeated by just the duo Jai and Veeru. Gabbar was very angry with his men thus he said this!
20) “Arrey oh Sambha … kitna inaam rakhe hai sarkar ham par”
Gabbar was a dangerous dacoit and everybody was afraid of him. It was quite evident on the faces of all the people living in Ramgarh. Nobody could ever get hold of him. Thus, police decided to reward money to the person who gets Gabbar and this famous sholay dialogue comes to action.
21) “When I dead, police coming …police coming, budiya going jail … in jail budiya chakki peesing, & peesing, & peesing, & peesing, & peesing”
This sholay dialogue has amazing use of english. English which only we can understand. Well, Veeru was drunk when he said this dialogue but what he said was from his heart. He loved Basanti and wanted to marry her. But Basanti’s Mausi acted as a villain in their romantic story!
22) “Suar ke bachon…”
This was one of the most heard sholay dialogue when people walked out of the theatre. Gabbar was very angry with his men and in anger he referred to them as pig’s children. Whenever someone tries to match Gabbar’s intensity while speaking this dialogue, he or she always fails!
23) “Mujhe Gabbar Chahiye zinda ya Murda”
Mr.Thakur was well aware of what he wanted. He just wanted to see Gabbar defeated in front of his eyes. He had a close encounter with Gabbar a few years back but failed in arresting him. Thus, now he trusts Jai and Veeru, and their intelligence and smartness to get hold of Gabbar.
24) “Ab tera kya hoga Kaaliyan?”
Do you remember the scene where three men of Gabbar came defeated by Jai and Veeru? Gabbar’s anger was evident so he decided to kill any one of them with a gunshot. All of it depended on their luck. Samba was saved, but then it was the turn of Kaaliyan and thus Gabbar spoke this Sholay Dialogue.
25) “Chal choose kr… Heads ya Tails”
Everyone is aware of Jai’s famous coin used for heads and tails in the movie. This coin toss changed the entire climax and when Veeru got to know about the reality of the coin as he mourned his friend’s death! He just remembered Jai with this famous sholay dialogue of his.
