Sacred Games Season Two: Much Awaited
1. The show is steered by Anurag Kashyap, who brings Ganesh Gaitonde character to life. The setting is in the era of the 1980’s and we must say, it is done with perfection.
2. Another reason is Masaan director Neeraj Ghaywan. Neeraj Ghaywan is going to take over from Vikramaditya Motwane to direct Sartaj Singh’s portions in Sacred Games 2.
3. The shows bring alive the true thrill of Vikram Chandra’s novel, satisfying its readers. It gives suprises to the viewers with tweak in the plot and characters.
4. The Sacred Game episodes were titled as following — Ashwathama, Halahala, Atapi Vatapi, Brahmahatya, Sarama, Pretakalpa, Rudra, Yayati.
The show brings out a deeper meaning to the title of each episode by making it relatable to the storyline. For example, one of the episodes is named “Brahmahatya”.
It revolves around how Gaitonde killed the 'Brahmin' inside him, with the consumption of non-veg and agreeing to poach Muslims votes for conniving politician Bhosale.
Let us see what names come in Sacred Games 2.
5. There are many dots left to be connected in Sacred Game season 2. The analytical backbone to Sartaj, ‘Anjali Mathur’ died in the middle of the puddle.
The dear friend of Sartaj, ‘Constable Katekar’ also leaves us with a cliff-hanging twist.
6. The breaking stereotype Bollywood myth is no ordinary cat-mouse chase series. Some people have even compared it with Narcos. And so, Season 2 is much awaited.
Sacred Games Differs On Screen From The Actual Book
Would the readers of the actual novel be able to guess the ending or is it any different?
Is there no thrill for the reader or the story on screen has plots and twist od its own?
Many unanswered questions would be answered in the coming Sacred Game season two!
Here are few differences between Vikram Chandra ‘Sacred Games’ and Anurag’s Netflix venture:
The show is set against the backdrop of the Babri Masjid demolition of December 1992 and the subsequent riots in Mumbai in 1992 and 1993.
The riots were instruments in the rise of Gaitonde character, which is expected in coming Sacred Games season 2.
In the show, Gaitonde person vengeance is also linked to getting into political drama while in the book it is driven by riots in Mumbai which took place in 1992-1993.
The characters: Sartaj sigh in the book vs Sartaj Sigh on Netflix & Who does it better?
In the show, Sartaj Sigh pulls an anxiety-ridden honest cop. This can be noticed when Sartaj Sigh refuses to testify against his senior in fake encounter case.
While in the book, Sartaj Sigh is seen as a confident cop. He is ready to give away a little corruption as far as the wheel of justice is moving.
For example, Chandra writes about him, “When Sartaj had been married, he had taken a certain pride in never accepting cash, but after the divorce, he had realized how much Megha’s money had protected him from the world, from the necessities of the streets he lived in...So Sartaj took cash now, and was grateful for it.”
The characters: How About Gaitonde in the book vs Gaitonde on Netflix? Who kills it in the end?
Gaitonde believes, he is God, Ashwathama as indicated in the first episode of Sacred Games. He is depicted with a fragile ego who is in relentless quest of power.
A lot of brutes is added in the character playing on-screen. While in the novel, Gaitonde moves ahead in his career with his intellect and ability to read people.
To sum up, the Vikram’s novel showcases the characters in morally grey shades while in the show we can see them inclined towards black and white characters.
For instance, in Vikram’s novel the DCP Parulkar character, Sartaj And Parulkar are seen to enjoy the mentor-pupil relationship.
He is dynamic, cunning who rose from lower ranks to this post.
In the Sacred Game show, Parulkar is shown as corrupt senior who wants to cut out Sartaj from the case.
The two are seen exchanging bitter glances and none of the mentor-pupil relationships is yet seen in the show.
Spoiler Alert: What to watch out in Sacred Game Season 2
The show had an edgy ending when Sartaj found Trivedi in the bunker with the help of the guru-ji sign. If we closely observe, the bunker had all the amenities to safeguard you from a catastrophe.
There was a gas mask, water, and food needed to survive in case of catastrophe. Also, there were devices to check radiation level which hinted us towards nuclear attack.
While the Sacred Game series started with Jojo Mascarenas (Surveen Chawla) telling Gaitonde “they were making fool of you for twenty years” after which he killed her.
This plot will uncover incoming season.
Incoming season it is expected to see more of ‘The third father’ Guru Ji played by Pankaj Tripathi and Jojo Mascarenas played by Surveen Chawla - how she was instrumental in the plot of Mumbai catastrophe.
Eagerly waiting for Sacred Game season two!
