The Fast and Furious series or ‘The Fast Saga’ is one of the biggest franchises and is the seventh highest-grossing film series in the world. ‘The Fast Saga’ is a series of action films that portray illegal street racing, heists, and family!
The first film of the series was released in 2001. The first three movies focused on illegal street racing.
In 2009, ‘Fast and Furious kicked off the second trilogy follows the character’s pull off some daring stunts and brings together or reunites the core characters; Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), and Mia (Jordana Brewster).
The third trilogy starts with ‘Furious 7’ and the latest movie ‘F9’ came out in 2021.

1. The Fast and the Furious (2001)
Directed by Rob Cohen and starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Mitchell Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster, this movie takes you inside a world of street racing and tells the story of Dominic Toretto, who is a gang leader and is accused of stealing equipment worth $1 million.
The FBI sends LAPD officer, Brian O’Conner Toronto and his team but then O’Connor becomes a part of Toretto’s life and proves that he’s innocent.
‘The Fast and the Furious’ is a mindlessly entertaining film and is clever, intelligent, and fast-paced.
2. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
This movie introduces the characters of Roman Pearce and Tej who later become a core part of the series.
The second movie tells the story of Brian O’Conner now an ex-cop, on the run who teams up with his childhood friend Roman Pearce and works with an undercover US agent Monica Fuentes to bring down a Miami-based drug lord.
The movie stars Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, and Eva Mendes in lead roles. ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ is s entertaining and lives up to its title.
This is the only film in the series to not feature Vin Diesel’s character.
3. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Directed by Justin Lin, this movie is about Sean Boswell, an Alabama teenager who is a major competitor in the world of drift racing, who moves out with his father to Tokyo to avoid a jail sentence in America.
Even though this movie was a disappointing follow-up to the previous Fast and Furious installments, it still plays an integral part in the Fast and Furious series.
4. Fast & Furious (2009)
Directed by Justin Lin, this movie brings back Vin Diesel and Paul Walker to the franchise in lead roles. Brian O’Conner is back working for the FBI and has been searching for a drug leader Braga.
His search leads him to the same and that Dom was looking for who was responsible for the assassination of this girlfriend Letty. Both of them team up together to bring Braga down.
Fast & Furious is an action-packed sequel that picks up from where The Fast and the Furious (2001) stopped.
5. Fast Five (2011)
Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner are wanted-man.
They escape to Brazil with Mia to pull out a $10 million highest and disappear. But the heist is more challenging when Luke Hobbs, a highly skilled and cop is sent to catch them.
Fast Five is one of the best action heist films of all time. The film reunites all cast from the previous films and also marks the first appearance of Dwayne Johnson in the series.
6. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)
Luke Hobbs is tracking a criminal named Owen Shaw.
When he gets a lead, he has Toretto and Brian reassemble their crew to take him down, but Toretto unexpectedly gets sidetracked when he faces his dead girlfriend Letty who he thought was dead.
Directed by Justin Lin, the movie stars the entire cast that was present in the last one reprises their roles. Mitchell Rodrigues returns as Letty and Luke Evans is the new plays this movie’s antagonist.
Fast and Furious 6 is one of the best movies of the series.
7. Furious 7 (2015)
Five years since the events of Fast and Furious 6, years of peace are altered when Deckard Shaw shows up to seek revenge for his younger brother Owen Shaw.
An unknown hacker Ramsey claims to have developed ‘God’s eye’ is also thrown in between this. Toretto and his crew need to save the hacker and also deal with Shaw. In addition to the original cast, Jason Statham and Nathalie Emanuel join the cast.
Watching this movie will be an emotional rollercoaster knowing the loss of Paul Walker to a shocking car accident in 2013, and this would be his last movie.
The makers of the movie could have gotten his character killed like we’ve seen before in other franchises but instead the scriptwriters give his character a fitting sendoff and this is why this movie is so special to the heart of every Fast and Furious fan.
8. The Fate of the Furious (2017)
This movie opens a new chapter in the franchise. In this movie, a mysterious woman seduces Toretto into the world of cyber-terrorism and makes him betray his family.
Teaming up with Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), the crew faces challenges that will test them as never before to bring home the man who made them a family.
With the characters of Brian O’Connor and Mia Toronto retired the movie stars rest of the cast and also has cameo appearances.
Overall F8 is an action-pact movie.
9. F9 (2021)
In the recent installment of the series, Cipher, the mysterious woman from F8 takes revenge on Dom and his team with the help of Jacob, Dom’s younger brother.
F9 is an enjoyable ride. The movie stars the rest of the cast and John Cena.
Spin-off films
10. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham, ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ tells the story when a cyber-genetically enhanced villain threatens the future of humanity, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw team up, even though they don’t get well along together to bring him down.
This movie from the Fast and Furious series is a superb action flick and simply fun. The spin-off is worth your time and does justice to the Fast and Furious franchise.
The Fast And Furious Series Order
Some of these are set later in the timeline. If you want to watch in chronological order, start with the first two. Skip Tokyo Drift and watch the next three. After Fast and Furious 6, watch Tokyo Drift. After that hop to Furious 7, followed by F8 and the spin-off, and finally F9.
20 years later, these Fast and Furious movies get bigger than ever. Who knew with what started with just street racing, would witness jumping out of planes, submarines, and making contact with space? This series of movies should not be missed if you’re a fan of cars and action movies.
