'I have not come here to compete, I have come here to rule'.

This is what our beloved superstar King Khan had to say to Rajeev Masand's question regarding his competition with younger actors like Ranbir Kapoor. And we can't disagree with his words, can we?

Shahrukh Khan, or popularly referred to as SRK, is one of the biggest superstars of this nation, ever. His popularity is not restricted to any age, class, religion, or gender.

The man has a huge number of admirers all over the world. SRK has acted in nearly 100 films since his debut with the film Deewana (1992). Below is the list of the best SRK movies for you to watch right now!

The year was 1992 when Deewana hit the theatres. This movie introduced Shahrukh Khan to the Indian audience for the first time on the big screen.

18. Don

"Sir Bahot Shareef Lagta Hai, Call Me Don", this SRK movie is no doubt a must-watch.

Well, this doesn't require much explanation. When Farhan Akhtar decided to remake this evergreen classic of Mr. Bachchan, a section of the audience frowned.

However, this 2006 film went on to become a huge success, with praises showering in for the performances of its lead actors SRK, Priyanka Chopra, and Boman Irani; while Akhtar garnered appreciation for the originality that he brought to the story.

An evergreen classic, KKHH was Karan Johar's debut as a director and one of the most popular SRK movies. A love triangle featuring Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, this movie was an iconic success and it broke several records when it hit the silver screen in 1998.

It is still very much memorable for the chemistry between the lead actors and the superb music of Jatin-Lalit.

Available on: Netflix

16. Raees

When SRK in his deep baritone voice said 'Aa Raha hoon', the audience went berserk.

This Rahul Dholakia-directed 2017 gangster drama SRK movie saw him return in a negative character (not a typical villain though) after a significant amount of time.

It is an action crime drama featuring a fiery cast, with Shahrukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the two main characters, while Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Mahira Khan played the supporting characters. The chemistry between SRK and Nawazuddin is simply brilliant and is a major highlight of the film.

11. Paheli

Paheli is a different kind of film. This SRK movie does not cater to the mass or the class.

This is for the people who love movies that delve deep into human emotions. Directed by the veteran actor Amol Palekar, Paheli was released in 2005. It is probably one of the strangest love stories to have been made in the Hindi film industry.

Starring Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukerji as the lead pair, this fantasy romantic drama film is SRK's only official entry to the Oscars (2006). It continues to be one of the most underrated movies of King Khan.

This 1993 romantic crime thriller is a classic that does not have to be introduced. With a star cast featuring SRK, Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, and others, Baazigar was a groundbreaking film.

7. Darr

Another classic Yash Chopra film, Darr is one of the rare SRK movies that managed to send chills down its audience's spine. It is a psychological crime thriller starring SRK, Sunny Deol, and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles.

Shahrukh Khan managed to steal the show with his jaw-dropping performance in the character of the criminally obsessed one-sided lover, Rahul. Released in 1993, Darr still manages to scare its audience.

Available on: Amazon Prime

6. Fan

“Wo sirf star nahi, duniya hai meri!”

Fan is a unique movie in every aspect in which SRK plays the role of superstar Aryan Khanna, as well as his obsessive fan Gaurav Chandna. This 2016 action drama thriller is often cited as one of Khan's best performances. Moving miles asunder from the usual formula of Bollywood films, Fan did not have any song throughout its running minutes.

Though it failed to make much of an impact at the Indian box office, this film of Maneesh Sharma did earn a decent amount overseas, and SRK received bountiful praises for his performance.

Available on: Amazon Prime

5. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

A typical family drama coupled with romance and comedy, K3G is the second directorial venture of Karan Johar as a director.

Devdas is a 2002 movie, based on a novel of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. An eternal tragic love story featuring SRK, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit in the main roles, and Jackie Shroff in a supporting role, it is an epic film in every aspect.

Devdas is a masterpiece of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Script, direction, costume design, set design; everything is picture-perfect in this movie. Devdas also has one of the best soundtracks in the history of Bollywood.

One of the finest performances from any actor in Bollywood, Devdas holds a high rank in the SRK movies list.

Available on: Jio Cinema

3. Chak De India

“70 minute hai tumhare paas!”

I bet hardly anyone can dislike this SRK movie.

A sports drama film directed by Shimit Amin, Chak De! India is hands down one of the best Bollywood movies ever. This 2007 film presented Shahrukh Khan to us in a never seen before avatar.

This SRK movie revolves around an ex-Indian hockey player, Kabir Khan trying to get back his lost reputation, and the journey of the Indian national women’s hockey team from being a below-average team to becoming the world champions, under the guidance of Khan.

SRK put forth a brilliant performance, so did the women in the film (special mention goes to Shilpa Shukla who played the character of Bindia Naik).

Available on: Amazon Prime

2. Swades

One of the best and finest movies Bollywood could ever make.

Swades was not successful at the box office, because it did not entertain us, it educated us. This SRK movie can’t be, and shouldn’t be judged based on box office numbers.

A 2004 patriotic drama film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Swades is the movie of a man’s journey to finding his true self, his roots. SRK in the role of Mohan Bhargava, a NASA scientist, is simply outstanding.

This journey of self-discovery also features Gayatri Joshi (her only film) and Kishori Ballal in the leading roles. A highly acclaimed film, Swades is a masterpiece.

Available on: Netflix

1. My Name Is Khan

Another classic and amazing SRK movie that left an impact on the audience.

Shahrukh Khan broke all the preset notions about him and presented a truly magnificent performance as Rizwan Khan, a man with Asperger’s syndrome in this film. Undoubtedly the best directorial venture of Karan Johar, MNIK brought back the evergreen SRK-Kajol pair on screen after a significant amount of time.

While all the actors including Kajol were brilliant, SRK simply stole the show with his performance. When Rizwan said “My name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist”, it hit us hard. Famous Brazilian author went on to say that SRK deserved an Oscar for his performance and would have bagged one if Hollywood was unbiased.

The movie teaches us to love and to spread love at every level. A must-watch for everyone, this 2010 film is truly a magical masterpiece.

Available on: Amazon Prime

Upcoming SRK movies: Pathan, Lion, untitled project with Rajkumar Hirani, Brahmāstra (as a scientist), Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (as himself).

It is not easy to come up with a list of SRK movies that would make everyone happy, as it is really difficult to decide which one to keep and which one to omit. Not only is he loved all over India, but he has played a key role in introducing foreign audiences to Indian films.

He might have hit a rough patch in the last few years, he continues to be one of the most loved and respected global superstars. He is all set to make his comeback with as many as 4 films in his bag, and we can’t wait for the much-awaited moment.
