With the Red Line of Lucknow Metro running in full swing between CCS Airport and Munshi Pulia, more and more people are using the Lucknow metro service to commute in the city. 

Seeing the response, LMRC (Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation) has increased the speed of expansion of Lucknow Metro and very soon, the Blue Line of Lucknow Metro will be operational. 

We will be able to travel comfortably and faster to more places in Lucknow with the metro. As of now, there are many Lucknow metro stations that are built or are located near a popular place or tourist attraction.

Here is the list of Lucknow Metro Stations near tourist places or alternatively, list of closest/nearest metro stations to tourist places in Lucknow:


1. Metro Station near Kukrail Picnic Spot (Kukrail Ghadiyal Park) - Munshi Pulia Metro Station


The Kukrail Picnic Spot is quite a natural forest and sanctuary in Lucknow, which is one of the most renowned centers for Crocodile breeding in India. 

Besides the crocodiles and alligators of all sizes, you may see a number of species of deer particularly, sambar, and black-brown spotted deer here. There is a well-maintained lawn and tree-shaded walk for relaxation.

The nearest metro station to Kukrail Forest Picnic Spot is Munshi Pulia Metro Station, about 3.1 km away. You can take an auto or book a cab to reach the destination. 


2. Metro Station near Regional Science City Aliganj - IT Chauraha Metro Station


The regional science city in Aliganj, Lucknow, displays some of the science experiments that students read in their books but most never get a chance to see them as a working model or even try it themselves.

There is a theatre that shows a 3D show for kids only and the Scimax show. The real fun is the experiments and equipment present there. To reach the iconic Husainabad Clock Tower, you can get down at K D Singh Babu Stadium and take a shared auto to your destination. It will take around 20 minutes to reach the Clock Tower from K D Singh Babu Metro Station.


4. Metro Station near Rumi Darwaza (Roomi Darwaza) - K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station


Situated in the heart of Lucknow city, looming over the busy everyday traffic, Rumi Darwaza (Roomi Darwaza) has become the signature of Lucknow city. Through the arch of the Rumi Darwaza runs roadways to both sides and they remain busy, crowded and cacophonous. 

Just like an old guardian angel that has seen the city rise and fall. The ancient Awadhi architecture of Rumi Darwaza takes you back into the past and reminds you of the horse-driven Tonga cart. 

The nearest Lucknow metro station to Rumi Darwaza is K D Singh Babu Metro Station. You can take an auto from Parivartan Chowk Chauraha to Rumi Darwaza and reach your destination in 10 minutes.


5. Metro Station near Lucknow Zoo (Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden) - Hazratganj Metro Station


If you are an animal lover, then Lucknow zoo (Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden) should be on your list while exploring the city of Nawabs. It is of historic significance as this Zoological Park was established on November 29, 1921, to celebrate the arrival of the Prince of Wales to Lucknow. 

The zoological park has a total of 1012 wildlife animals and a total of 104 species of them. It also has 42 species of fish. The park also includes wildlife hospital, aquarium, butterfly park, toy train, battery vehicle, paddle boating, and a historical Museum.

To reach the Lucknow Zoo (Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden), you can deboard at the Hazratganj Metro Station, which is the nearest metro station to the tourist place. From there, you can take an auto-rickshaw/e-rickshaw or simply walk the remaining distance of 1.3 km.


6. Metro Station near Bara Imambara, Bhul Bhulaiya & Shahi Baoli - K D Singh Babu Metro Station


Bada Imambara is also known as Asafi Imambara as it was built by Asaf-ud-daula, the then Nawab of Awadh (Now Lucknow) in 1784. It also has a mosque inside where Namaz is offered to date. 

However, it is more popular for its incredible maze which is located on the upper floor of the monument. There are 1024 ways to get inside the maze but only 2 to come out so it is popularly known as Bhul Bhulaiya. 

Bada Imambara is the world's Largest structure that is unsupported by beams and this makes it different from other ancient monuments. The beautiful design of the monument gives a great sense of pleasure to the eyes.

Bada Imambara is an important place of worship for the Muslims, who come in large numbers every year to mourn in Muharram. An attractive structure at the Bara Imambara Complex is the five-storeyed Shahi Baoli, which was constructed to be used as a water reservoir and is connected to river Gomti. 

To reach Bara Imambara (Asafi Imambara), Bhul Bhulaiya, and Shahi Baoli by Lucknow metro, the nearest metro station is K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station. Deboarding at the K D Singh Stadium Metro Station, you can take an auto-rickshaw and travel the remaining distance of 3.3 km. 

Arriving at the destination, you get the pleasure of witnessing the historical monument and an important tourist place in Lucknow.


7. Metro Station near Chota Imambara - KD Singh Babu Metro Station


Chota Imambara, also known as Imambara of  Hussainabad, was initially a congregation hall for shia Muslims built by Muhammad Ali Shah in 1838. The Imambara was to serve as his own mausoleum as well as that of his mother, who is buried beside him in this prestigious monument. 

Chota Imambara is white in colour and the monument is also referred as Palace Of Lights. After deboarding at the K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station, one has to take an auto rickshaw to cover a distance of 4.5 km and reach the beautiful tourist place, Chota Imambara. The timings are 6 am to 5 pm.


8. Metro Station near British Residency & Shaheed Smarak - K D Singh Babu Metro Station 


The British Residency and Shaheed Smarak are located in the heart of Lucknow and are symbolic of Lucknow's significance in the Indian history. 

The British Residency is a group of buildings on a common walled plot in the city of Lucknow and originally served as the home for the British Resident General who was a representative in the court of the Nawab. 

When the revolt of 1857 took place, Begum Hazrat Mahal led it from Lucknow, and the Residency was destroyed. You will find scars of bullets and other missile balls on the walls of Residency till date. 

Opposite to the residence, you have the Shaheed Smarak, a tall monolithic structure which stands proudly against the lush gardens. It was built in the loving memory of the numerous Indian soldiers who lost their lives while protecting our country and fighting the First War of Independence (Mutiny of 1857). 

Since Shaheed Smarak is on the banks of River Gomti, spending evenings here will make you experience shaam-e-awadh. These two buildings are very near from K D Singh Babu Metro Station. You can either walk this distance or take an auto/e-rickshaw.


9. Metro Station near Indira Gandhi Planetarium - Hazratganj Metro Station


Indira Gandhi Planetarium is situated at Surajkund park in Lucknow. It is designed and modelled in the shape of Saturn, with five rings around its central body. 

The Planetarium has various models of the Indian satellites and diverse data about the renowned Indian scientists like Aryabhatt, Varahamihira etc. It was opened to the public in 2003.

While visiting the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, a tourist destination full of information, you can gain useful knowledge about different aspects of astronomy through the exhibitions and various interesting shows.

The Indira Gandhi Planetarium is located at a distance of 2.9 km from Hazratganj Metro Station. If you have kids along with you, this place is a must-see tourist place near metro station in Lucknow.

 

10. Metro Station near Tunday Kababi Lucknow - KD Singh Babu Metro Station


World famous and popular among celebrities, Tunday kababi is located on the Old Nazirabad Road in Mohan Market in Aminabad. It was started in 1905 and is famous for serving buffalo meat galouti kebab. It is believed that around 160 spices are used while preparing the kababs.

The 'Tunde ke Kabab' is dish made out of marinated, minced meat. It is part of the Awadhi Cuisine. Besides kebabs, Tunday Kababi is also a non vegetarian food paradise. You can enjoy chicken korma, chicken biryani, roasted chicken, seekh kebab, mutton korma, mutton biryani, etc. also here. 

But, if you are a kebab lover, you must not miss visiting Tunday Kababi in Aminabad. There are various other branches of Tunday Kababi in Chowk, Alambagh, and Kapoorthala. 

Tunday Kababi Aminabad is at a distance of 1.6 Km from KD Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station. You can take an e-rickshaw to get down at the entrance of Old Nazirabad Road and then walk to the eatery. Or else, you can walk the whole distance.

11. Metro Station near Aminabad Market - Charbagh Metro Station


Aminabad Market has been a famous market for clothing, jewelry, makeup items, and everything else ever since the time of the Nawabs. Some structures and buildings from that time still exist and are in use even today. 

Aminabad Market is also home to some of the oldest and world-famous eating places in town, which include Prakash Kulfi, Tunday Kababi, Wahid Biryani, and Burma Bakery. For beautiful jewelry and makeup items, you can go to Gadbadjhala, which is quite popular for its exquisite jewelry works.

To reach one of the oldest markets in Lucknow by the Lucknow Metro, you must get down at the Charbagh Metro Station and then, take an auto/e-rickshaw to Aminabad Market. If you love walking, the market is within 1 km range from the metro station.


12. Metro Station near Chowk Market - Alambagh Metro Station & Charbagh Metro Station 


Besides being one of the oldest markets in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Chowk Market is world famous for Chikan handicraft items and authentic Lucknowi cuisine. It is 3 km from Bara Imambara and you can cover both places together. To reach the market, you have two routes depending upon the direction of your travel. 

If you are traveling on the Lucknow Metro going to Munshi Pulia, which means you are onboard from Kanpur Road side, then get down at Alambagh Metro Station (Alambagh Chauraha) and take an auto for Chowk or book a can. The Chowk market is 5 km from here and you can reach it in 15 minutes.

In case you are traveling from Munshi Pulia side and are on the metro going to CCS Airport, get down at Charbagh Metro Station and take an auto to Chowk or book a cab. The Chowk Market is 5 km from here as well. You will reach the Chowk market in 15 minutes from the metro station.


13. Metro Station near Hazratganj Market - Hazratganj Metro Station


Hazratganj is the state capital's oldest and most popular market in Lucknow, gaining love from Lucknowites for years. Owing to its significance in the life of Lucknow locals and Uttar Pradesh Tourism, the Hazratganj Metro Station has been constructed.

As you arrive at the Hazratganj Metro Station, you will see that it's design draws inspiration from Kathak, a classical dance form associated with Lucknow's culture and rich heritage. Moving out, you will find the maximum number of commercial units, shops, cafes, and lounges in Hazratganj. 


14. Metro Station near Maqbara Wali Park (Maqbara of Saadat Ali Khan/Tomb of Saadat Ali Khan) - K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station


At a walking distance of just 500 m from  K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station in Lucknow, rests the beautiful historical Maqbare Wali Park. It is very close to the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park in Qaiserbagh (previously known as Khaas Bazaar). 

The Kaiserbagh garden holds the tomb of Saadat Ali Khan, the fifth Nawab of Awadh and his wife, Khurshid Zadi. The tombs are known as 'Maqbare' (Plural) in Urdu. It was this first king of Awadh Ghazi-ud-Din Haider, who had built the grand mausoleum for his father, Nawab Saadat Ali Khan. 

Thus, Makbare Wali Park has the best classical traditions of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. With grace, greenery, fountains, and tombs, it is a place of great historical importance and one of the best tourist places in Lucknow. 


15. Metro Station near Begum Hazrat Mahal Park  - K D Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station


Built-in the honor of an amazingly beautiful and courageous warrior, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Begum Hazrat Mahal Park in Qaiserbagh, Lucknow is one of the most spectacular gardens in the Hazratganj area. It commemorates the contribution of Begum Hazrat in the Revolt of 1857. 

As of today, the serenity of the place with eye-catching fountains, trees, flowers, and stoned pathways offers relief from the combustion of the city. This park is at a walking distance of within 200 m from K D Singh Babu Metro Station and one among the important tourist places in Lucknow.


16. Metro Station near Botanical Garden (NBRI's Gardens) - Hazratganj Metro Station


At only 2.1 km from the Hazratganj Metro Station, the Botanical Gardens Lucknow are dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation, and display of a wide range of plants labeled with their botanical names.

Lucknow’s Botanical Garden is spread in a vast expanse on the southern bank of river Gomti and hosts flower exhibitions, vegetable exhibitions, etc. for the public.  Many informative plants and herbs can be discovered here. 

You will find lots of people, from almost all age groups, who visit these gardens for fresh breath. To reach Botanical Garden Lucknow, you can take an auto from Hazrat Ganj Chauraha or an e-rickshaw. In 10 minutes, you will be at your destination. 


17. Metro Station near Gomti Riverfront Park (Marine Drive Lucknow) - Hazratganj Metro Station & Indra Nagar Metro Station


Developed beautifully on the banks to River Gomti (a tributary of River Ganga), the landscaped riverfront with illumination and parks is a popular local and tourist attraction in Lucknow. 

It has arched shelters that are great for clicking pictures and a musical fountain that keeps everyone spellbound. Some social workers also teach students in the mini theatre of Lucknow's Riverfront. 

Both Hazratganj Metro Station & Indra Nagar Metro Station are nearly equidistant from Marine Drive Lucknow aka Riverfront Gomtinagar Lucknow. 

You can get down at the Hazratganj Metro Station if you are coming from CCS Airport/Lucknow Kanpur Road, and take a shared auto from Hazratganj Chauraha to Marine Drive Gomtinagar. In 15 minutes, you will be at your destination. 

However, if you are traveling from Munshipulia side/Lucknow Sultanpur Road, you must get down at Indra Nagar Metro Station and take a shared auto to Marine Drive Gomtinagar. The auto will take 15 minutes to drop you at the Gomti Riverfront Lucknow.


18. Metro Station near Eco Garden (Manyawar Shri Kashiram Ji Green Eco Garden) - Alambagh Metro Station


Gaining popularity among the tourist attractions in Lucknow, the Manyawar Kashiram Eco Garden is developed in the area where the old Lucknow Jail was present. Inside, there's a lot of greenery and statues made from waste materials such as metal scraps, stones, paper, etc. 

The nearest metro station to Eco Garden Lucknow is the Alambagh Metro Station. You can get down from the metro, book a cab or walk 2.5 km to arrive at your destination.


19. Metro Station near Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary (Shahid Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary) - Transport Nagar Metro Station


Located on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway, the Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary lies at 32 km from the Transport Nagar Metro Station. The Bird Sanctuary is a welcome pause for the lovers of nature, who are exploring Lucknow city.

Every year during the winter months, the Siberian Cranes migrate to this bird sanctuary and rest here. Inside, there's a huge lake surrounded by lush greenery. Also, there's a deer park, watchtowers, and boats for recreation.

To visit this bird sanctuary, you can get down at Transport Nagar Metro Station and book a cab or take a UPSRTC bus going towards Kanpur to reach your destination. It will take about an hour and you will have to cross a toll on the way. 


20. Metro Station near Ekana Cricket Stadium (Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium) - Transport Nagar Metro Station


Developed and managed by the Ekana Sportz City, the spectacular Ekana Cricket Stadium is an international standard cricket stadium in Lucknow city. It was established in 2017, and several international matches have been held here.

Popular as one among the Lucknow tourist attractions, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium is best reachable by Transport Nagar Metro Station. You can get down from the Lucknow Metro and book a cab, which will take around 20-25 minutes to drop you at your destination.
