KBC(Kaun Banega Crorepati) is an Indian television game show. It is the official Hindi language version of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

The franchise was launched for the first time in July 2000. It is a show which provides healthy entertainment and also helps in enhancing knowledge. 

The show is full of life, enthusiasm, thrill, hope, and fun, bringing every day with it new stories of people of different sects, castes, ages, states, or professions. 

It allows the entire nation to be successful and be in front of Amitabh Bacchan (Big B) and for which thousands of people try their best day and night. This show gives the audience an excellent deal of data in every sphere. 

1. Harshvardhan Navathe (19 October 2000) - 1cr

Harshvardhan Navathe is the winner of the very first season of KBC that commenced in the year 2000. 

At that time, Harshvardhan was preparing for his civil services exams but after his big win, he went on to enroll in a business school in the U.K. Right now, he is in a senior position in one of the MNCs, happily married with two kids.

2. Vijay Raul and Arundhati (2 May 2001) - 1cr

Vijay Raul and Arundhati appeared in the second season of special KBC Jodi and bagged the prize money of Rs.1 crore.

3. Ravi Saini (14 May 2001) - 1cr 

Ravi Saini was a fourteen-year-old contestant who appeared on season 3 of KBC Junior and impressed the host and the audience with his intelligence and maturity. 

After winning this season, Ravi did his MBBS and then appeared for the UPSC exam and joined police services. The KBC winner is now the Superintendent of Police, Porbandar.

4. Sushil Kumar (2 November 2011) - 5cr

For season 5 of KBC, the makers of the show increased the prize money to 5cr, and Sushil Kumar, an MGNREGA teacher bagged the first prize! 

Even after his big win, he is a teacher and is working passionately towards saving the environment. He is dubbed as the real slumdog millionaire.

5. Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney (12 January 2013) - 5cr

Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney was the second person to win the prize money of 5cr at KBC. After her win, she used the money to establish herself and open a fashion house! 

The entrepreneur is now married to actor Manmeet Singh and lives in Mumbai with their two daughters.

6. Achin and Sarthak Narula (9 October 2014) - 7cr

Achin and Sarthak Narula are the only contestants till now to have won 7 cr at the show. After their big win, they used the money for their mother”s cancer treatment and to set up a small business. 

They are the most important Asian winners within the WWTBAM franchise.

7. Sanoj Raj (2011)

Sanoj Raj, hailing from the Jehanabad district of Bihar was the first person to take home the 11cr 

Prize money for this season. At the time of this show, Sanoj was preparing for his UPSC exams and was hoping to crack it and become an IAS officer.

8. Babita Tade (2011)

Babita Tade became the subsequent big winner of Kaun Banega Crorepati 11. She was a midday meal cook from Amravati who impressed host Amitabh Bachchan with her humble simplicity. 

She expressed her interest in doing community service and securing a good future for her kids with the prize money. 

Being emotionally connected to her kids, the KBC winner continued to work as a cook at her school and invested her prize money.

9. Gautam Kumar Jha (2011)

Bihar’s Gautam Kumar Jha became the third contestant to win Rs 1 crore in the 11th season. A senior engineer within the railways, Jha said he gathered all the knowledge while prepping for his civil services exams. 

The Madhubani resident had shared that he wants to build a house in Patna with his prize money, whereas his wife wants to support girls from their village. 

Jha continues to work with the railways.

10. Ajeet Kumar (2011)

Ajeet Kumar, a resident of Hajipur also won a crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati 11. 

Host Amitabh Bachchan had lauded Kumar as the best player of the season for his smart gameplay., Kumar said he would use a part of his prize money to form a rehab facility for convicts as he was preparing for a job as a jail superintendent and would invest the rest of his money to get a better lifestyle and help those around him. 

As per the latest information, Ajeet Kumar did crack his exams and is now a superintendent.

11. Binita Jain (Season 10)

Assam’s Binita Jain was the first person of season 10 who took home Rs 1 crore. 

Banita Jain, who has been working at a coaching center as a teacher, invested her prize money to secure her children’s future. She recently inaugurated a dental clinic for her son in her hometown.

12. Anamika Majumdar (Season 9)

The sole crorepati of the season was Anamika Majumdar, hailing from Jamshedpur. Anamika may be a caseworker and she used her prize for the betterment of her NGO. 

She continues to actively pursue social causes and has become quite popular in her city.

13. Megha Patil (Season 9)

Season 9 also found another winner in Megha Patil. The cancer survivor won Rs 1 crore on the show.

14. Taj Mohammed Rangrez - 7 cr

The seventh season of KBC came with prize money of Rs 7 crore. Taj Mohammed Rangrez, a teacher by profession, won a crore on the show. 

He not only used the prize money for his daughter’s eye treatment and building a house for his family, but he also got two orphaned girls married. 

He was lovingly called Crorepati Rangrez by people for his good deeds. Taj even acted in a film, in 2016, Mere Desh Ki Beti.

15. Firoz Fatima

Firoz Fatima also took home Rs 1 crore in this season. The young girl participated in the show to help her family repay a big loan they took for her father’s treatment.

16. Manoj Kumar Raina (Season 6)

Manoj Kumar Raina took home Rs 1 crore during this season. The Indian Railway employee called meeting host Amitabh Bachchan as his ultimate dream and his appearance on the show, a dream come true.

17. Anil Kumar Sinha -1 cr

Working for a prominent bank in Kolkata, Anil Kumar Sinha took home Rs 1 crore from the show. Soon after his win, he started his own YouTube channel to share his knowledge and help people prepare for KBC.

18. Rahat Taslim (Season 4) -1 cr

Rahat Taslim who belonged to a middle-class family appeared on KBC with the hopes of bettering her life. 

She went on to win Rs 1 crore on the show and with the prize money. She started her own garment business in her hometown Giridih, Jharkhand.

19. Brajesh Dubey (Season 2) -1 cr

The second season of Kaun Banega Crorepati had raised the prize amount from the earlier Rs 1 crore to 2 crores. Brajesh Dubey, an electrical engineer from Guna and the son of national hockey umpire K N Dube was the big winner of the season. 

However, he went home with Rs 1 crore he couldn’t answer the last question.

The questions in this game are simple sometimes and mind-boggling after reaching a particular level. 

The conduct of the show by the Super Star Amitabh Bhachan is simply superb. To help them along the way and reach the top much like its counterparts, the game has a set of lifelines available for the participants to use. The most popular lifelines are 50: 50, Audience Poll, and Phone A Friend. 

The total number of questions in this game till season 8 was 15 with a prize money of 1 crore after which the makers increased the number of questions to 16 and the prize money to a whopping 7cr.
