The Guava festival organized by Sanchaari is a reason for people living in Prayagraj ( formerly known as Allahabad) to celebrate the joy of having Guavas. It is an effort to give recognition to the people involved in the cultivation of Guava trees.
The first edition of Guava Festival was held in 2016, to celebrate the love for the queen of fruits - Amrood (Guavas). The Guava Festival venue for 2016 was long-forgotten Mughal gardens of Khusrau Bagh.
The gardens came to life as people from all walks of life came to celebrate Guavas. The flavor of local art and tradition got accentuated with the melodious voice of folk artists performing during the morning hours of the day.

The latest edition of Guava Festival was held on 27th January 2019 at Jalsa Ghar, Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad). Many varieties of Guavas were kept on the display, which made people aware as well as fascinated them. People also find interest in taking guava saplings home and cultivating it.
Various Guava products, such as-
Guava Jelly, Guava cheese, Guava candies, guava cake, Amrood ka Halwa, Amrood peda, Amrood Gulabjamun, Amrood salad, Guava shreekhand, Guava shake were available for enjoying.
Besides this, there are various events such as cooking without fire, pain your chef cap, salad making, etc. for people’s engagement. The students of food technology department from the university participated and made exotic stuff like Amrood kheer, Amrood soup, Kimami Amrood, and Amrood smoothie.
Various Guava Varieties
As already said, Allahabad has been quite fond of Guava fruit. Given here are the names of a few Guava fruit variety sold in the city.
Allahabad Safeda Guava
This is the most famous Guava variety grown in Uttar Pradesh for table purpose. Allahabad Safeda Guava Fruits are medium in size (180g), and round in shape with few seeds. The Fruit is white fleshed with good keeping quality.
Chittidar Guava
The Chittidar Guava variety is similar to the Safeda Guava variety, except that it has many pinkish red dots of the size of a pinhead on the surface of the fruit.
Arka Mridula Guava
This Guava variety is a selection from open-pollinated seedlings of Allahabad Safeda. Fruits are round in shape, while the skin is yellow in color and smooth. The flesh inside is white in color.
All these guava varieties or guava types were there on the display at the Guava Festival 2019. Sanchaari has been making continuous efforts to popularize and organize an event of great magnitude and stature.
