2010 was a big year for Indian Sports as Commonwealth Games were hosted for the very first time in the country. In fact, huge audience turned up to support the native athletes. It was a real treat to watch the excellent performance of the athletes, who collectively won 101 medals and ranked India at the 2nd position.

Though, the success of the game was overshadowed by the diffused corruption and scams, the Indian athletes are all ready to recreate the history in Gold Coast 2018. They are filled with confidence to get all the lost medals of Glasgow Games. They have a final chance to change the color of their medals with the upcoming Gold Coast 2018.

Venue And Motto

The XXXI Commonwealth Games will be held at Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia, starting from April 4th, 2018 and ending on April 15th, 2018. The motto for Gold Coast 2018(GC 2018) is “Share the Dream”. It was chosen to showcase the experience and dreams of the athletes and volunteers.

The Mascot Of GC2018

In the shimmery sun, sand of Gold Coast, you will witness Blue Borobi as the Mascot of Commonwealth Games 2018. The amazing thing about the mascot is that Borobi is the first surfing Koala and he also wears board shorts. Moreover, the color blue is chosen because of the color of water at the Gold Coast.

India’s Biggest Hopes

India is taking a team of 225-athletes as participants in the GC2018 for the quadrennial games. And you might be aware about the success of this event in terms of medals that come to India. This is one of the events where Indian athletes have given an impeccable performance in every discipline.

In GC2018, we expect the same. India has a mixed pool of talent in different disciplines like Badminton, Shooting, Wrestling and Boxing. These are some events where we expect a good rack of Gold medals in Gold Coast 2018. And silvers and bronzes too. We welcome them all!

Attractions Of The Event

Other than the beautiful blue coast of Queensland, this edition brings you just 11-yeaar-old Anna Hursey, the youngest player of the season. She is representing Wales in Tennis. Another highlight of the event is the clash of India and Pakistan in Hockey. Adding to the list, more than 35 thousand of people will witness the popular singers - Delta Goodrem and Dami Im, at Carrara Stadium on 4 April 2018, at the opening ceremony.

The Gold Coast is all set to welcome thousands of fans, athletes and officials for its 31st edition. And like every athelete going to the contingent is excited, even we are.

In that moment of enthusiasm, Sakshi Malik has stated that,” I want to beat the Japanese opponent next”.

Even PV Sindhu suffered a minor strain on her ankle while training, but even she is not stepping back from GC 2018.

Kidambi Srikanth has his eyes on his first maiden medal at CWG. Saina Nehwal, Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat, Irfan K Thodi, Mary Kom, and others are all set to come out with flying colours.

Our best wishes to team INDIA!
