What does intermittent fasting means?

As your age increases your body metabolism tends to get lower and lower. In order to burn fat and have good muscle strength one's metabolism plays a major role.

This fasting basically works on increasing your metabolism which occurs due to some hormonal changes in your body which in turn increases energy level in your body hence the fat burning mechanism .

In this type of fasting you basically eat at a fixed amount of period( called fasting period).

There are two windows in this diet. One is fasting window and other one is eating window.

Fasting window can be minimum 12 hours to maximum of 16 hours. And the rest time will be your eating window in which you can consume food.

Some people prefer to include black coffee( without sugar), green tea, black tea in their fasting period.

Ideally only water should be consumed during the fasting period.

When breaking your fasting period have some fruits or boiled vegetables and then after 30-45 minutes take your regular meal.

Divide your eating period into two slots( if needed upto 3..keep the 3rd one a little less in amount that the other meals, basically a snack.)

What can be consumed during this eating window?

You can have your regular home cooked food.

Pulses, rice ,wheat chapati and vegetables.

Protein shakes( good quality whey protein or plant based protein) , nuts ,etc.

What you eat does matter but what matters more is in which proportion you're consuming it.

Diet should be balanced with right amount of carbohydrates fats and proteins.

Include protein rich food in your diet.

Win win if you eat eggs.

If you want to lose good amount of weight...avoid having carbohydrates at dinner time.

Suppose you're following the period of 12 hours fasting...you can select the time you start fasting according to your schedule and how you can manage that.

Their are various advantages of this diet including increase in fat burning therefore decreasing fat percentage of your body.

Helps in muscle recovery therefore helps in body muscle building, gives better skin , better hair growth.

But as everything has its pros and cons..this too have some disadvantages.

It's difficult to adapt to this fasting initially as your body is going into longer hours of fasting than it is used to. Initially you may feel even less energized. But It does get better afterwards(say a week).

Each and every diet is a halfway journey to weight loss if you do not include some sort of physical activity in your daily routine.

Every diet works. Try and chose what works best for you.

If you find it good for your body proceed with that.

But first make sure it does not affect your health , it suits you.

Have a nice day of fasting!
