"Unlocking Your Metamorphosis: Journaling”

To evolve, we must pick up new skin after shedding the old one. And so, to gain freedom, we must be ready to drop our oldest beliefs and pick new paths that now seem out of our comfort zone.

With journaling, this becomes easier. We can concisely rely on our old selves. We can also see the journey in a broader sense and visualize it all together. You might laugh at your old writings, and this is therapeutic.

With technological nourishment over the years, we no longer need physical diaries to annotate our journals. We now have online notebooks synchronized in the cloud, so this task gets better. And to support this future and to know that we have evolved, we have a constant need to keep track of and keep tabs on where we were beforehand. It is in our nature to be able to document our very existence, which is what the craze of social media is about. We need to not feel left alone, not even by ourselves.

I recommend journaling because I have tried it and witnessed its magic. Though not necessarily the magic we sought. But no amount of gentrification will rob us of our palpable ego. It is said to write without bias and edit without mercy.

I will share a cocktail recipe for how journaling should be done. More like my template.

  • You need to get into the mood, prepare yourself psychologically, and ensure that where you are seated (please, if you are in your bed, get out of there ASAP) is a calm place.

  • Remove all distractions and get to a safe space. Be in the best communicative area. Also, consider dedicating that area to where you will explore innovative ideas. That’s like an area of creativity. Sing it like a mantra.

  • Now that you are at your best inner temperature, do not prepare for how it will take you. You may want to start ranting; other days you just want to give thanks all over the place. At times, you may have nothing to say. All is fine.

  • Begin where the fingers take you, and never say that you have nothing to note down. Well, you always have your head with you, and thoughts race there every time. Start with that random thought. Just do it!

  • I personally always like to start with Thanksgiving. I feel like positivity supersedes all. And this is one way to get deeper into the mood and scrutinize my soul. (I can recall one time when I began by cursing myself for how I should have talked nice to somebody I met during the day, and I ended up laying the foundation for the guilt that continued for the following days, making me feel awful to the core.) So, I recommend positive things first.

  • Next, I go on psyching myself up, talking about all the ideas I have had. (I have a different page for the ideas to keep track of them.) Psyche may include what you think you deserve to cheer yourself with. It could be how you woke up early or how you made the best dish during supper. I recommend that it not be materialistic stuff but something spiritual that only you can put into words.

  • Now you open the gates of ranting, the passages of cursing, and the roads of negativity. Anything that you feel may require improvement should be noted. (I usually mark this as the RED SPOT, which is highlighted in red.) Ensure you feel no regret after this. It is supposed to be brutal with you and make you reason with your head.

  • Having the truth written by you and in front of you may jolt you into action. Something that made me quit most of the not-so-good habits I had I had issues with my relationships that I always had to rant about without ever taking any substantial action, and that is when I was confronted with the blunt truth. It was always me who could not bear to listen to others, even when I had something to gain from it. I thought of myself as Mr. Know It All, but I corrected the art, and I noticed that now even people enjoyed conversing with me.

  • Conclude with anything worthy of remembrance. Remember, nothing is worthless enough to be shrugged off. Learn to be generous with words and always aim to close the 800-word count. This will make you more descriptive and even help you communicate healthily with yourself. This is not some remedy that I prescribe that will make your problems vanish, but I promise it will give you the confidence to face the damned problems. Pumping that adrenaline to prepare you for the next phase of life. A metamorphosis of thoughts

Consistency should be key; others prefer weekly journals, others every two days, and others prefer daily. Well, consistency is the ultimatum, so ensure that whatever you choose is consistent. It could be every weekend, every morning, at noon. This is your call; make it consistent. Here is where we pick up the discipline.

It’s comparable to martial arts, where to begin training for the real deal, you spend time doing mundane tasks like washing dishes, picking fruits from the garden, having to sweep the compound, and other tasks. This builds patience; it trickles down to your soul, which has to delay your gratification.

A bonus is considered what could be of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius if he had not been duly journaling his dilemma. Running an empire without documenting it is cumbersome. The same goes for Moses of the Bible; a million people are all answerable to you, and you have to engage with each one’s problems without assistance. A foot to tackle. Kudos for your journey.
