There are some cricketers who are well educated and went into college to complete their education and become engineers, doctors or have even gone higher for PhD. Some of the cricketers went to study before becoming famous, and attained their degrees in higher education which is not known by many people. These players belonging to different parts of the country bring in a lot of diversity to the Indian National Cricket Team and this diversity is being seen in the educational qualifications of the cricketers too. Anil Kumble is a legendary Indian spinner and former Test captain who had also coached the Indian National Cricket Team for a brief period of time. He led the Indian spin bowling department in his era when cricket was considered to be a batsman’s game and only they used to be in limelight and glory.  He took 619 wickets from 132 Tests and had 337 scalps in 271 ODIs in his international career which lasted 18 years which means he has  956 international victims to his name and from 1990 to 2008. With all these feathers to his cap, he became an all-time great and a true legend of the game.

Anil Kumble has also been successful in his educational career. He has attained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Rashtriya Vidyalaya College of Engineering.

Ravichandran Ashwin does not need any introduction amongst today’s cricket lovers. He has taken  430 wickets in 84 Tests to his name and is only the 3rd among Indians with the highest number of test wickets with only Kapil Dev (434) and Anil Kumble (619), ahead of him. Ravichandran Ashwin has ended up as one of the greatest of the game in a decade which saw the game of cricket produce fireworks and entertainment. Javagal Srinath was the pace battery for India In an era of Spinners. He represented India between 1991 and 2003 and appeared in 229 ODIs and 67 Tests. He was a lethal and most effective bowler in overseas conditions and he could also adjust to flat wickets on home conditions. This former right-arm fast bowler scalped 315 wickets in 229 games. Srinath who made India proud in many cricket events completed his Bachelor of Science in Instrumental Technology from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) in Mysore. ICC match refereeing is Srinath's current job, which he earned in 2006.

His desire to become a doctor was put on hold as he pursued his career as a right-handed batsman. The rest as they say is history. He would go on to play some gem knocks and be involved in some great moments for Team India. He now holds an honorary doctorate degree from Teri University, New Delhi.
