Top 10 Best Places To Visit In All Of Maui

I recently turned from the Hawaiian island of Maui, and I want to show you my favorite places. So here’s my Maui top 10. Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian islands. It’s full of incredible resorts, beaches, and cliff jumping spots, there’s just so much to do from snorkeling Molokini crater to watching the sunset at Haleakala national park. Maui has it all.

1. Road to Hana

Let’s start this article off at the famous Road to Hana, it’s a 64-mile-long road that rides along Maui’s northeast coast. The round-trip drive can take anywhere from five to ten hours, depending on how many stops you make. So it’s the perfect day trip now. One of the first places you can visit is twin falls, it’s a short hike up to some waterfalls when we were there. It had just finished raining, so we didn’t get in the water, but when conditions are calm, it’s a great place to swim as we kept driving on the road to Hana. We came across this random bamboo forest. I just pulled off the road and there was this little path into this dark forest, reminding me of the horror movie in the tall grass.

There was a little waterfall down at the bottom and if you kept going there are some insane waterfalls upstream, I just think bamboo looks so cool as you keep driving on the road to Hana you’ll come to Honomanu beach. This is one of the few places on the road to Hana that has the road right next to the coast. So there are some incredible views there. I found this waterfall that fell straight into the ocean. Now, as you get close to the end, you’ll reach Waianapanapa state park. Now it costs about ten dollars to get in. As this cool place is well known for its black sand lava beach. Now the sand feels so good on your feet and it’s just so different compared to other beaches, it’s a great place to swim. There’s also, this cool lava tube on the beach you’ll have to explore. There are also a lot of walking paths you can check out when we were there. We found this sketchy cliff jump. My brother decided to send it so a little crazy.

2. Pipiwai Trail

Now, after we’re going to head to the Pipiwai Trail now, this is usually the farthest place people go on the road to Hana anyways, it’s this 3.4-mile hike that goes through a beautiful bamboo forest and ends at the Waimoku falls. Now, one of my favorite places on the road to Hana is the venus ponds. It’s this natural pool with several waterfalls and, what’s so unique about it, is that it connects to the ocean so there’s like some little waves that make it into the pond. Now we got there towards the end of the day and I wanted a cliff jump. So I checked the water depth and I found this cool ledge and sent a few gators off of it. I mean it was honestly a magical experience being there and one of the highlights of the trip

3. Haleakala National Park

Now after we’re going to head to the top of Maui to visit Haleakala National Park. Now it’s home to the Haleakala volcano, which is Maui’s highest point at 10. 023 feet high: when you’re there you’ll feel like you’re on another planet, the crater is filled with tons of volcanic domes and it’s just such a strange yet beautiful place. I’ve been to Haleakala for both sunrise and sunset. So if you want to go for sunrise, you’ll have to make a reservation beforehand, but for sunset, you just pay the park entrance fee and go. When I got there, it was a chilling 39 degrees which are just hard to believe ever gets that cold in Hawaii so definitely bring some warm clothes because it’s freaking cold anyways. It was just surreal to be up there for the sunset.

The clouds were just blowing right through us. Sometimes we were completely engulfed in fog and other times it was a clear sky. It was so cool to watch the sun dip underneath the horizon. If you can handle the cold, you can stay longer. Past sunset until it gets dark. Haleakala is one of the best places in the world to see the night sky after Haleakala National Park.

4. Molokini Crater

We’re going to head to one of the best snorkel spots in ala: Maui called Molokini Crater. Now it’s this crescent-shaped island in the middle of the ocean, situated right off the coast. You can take a turbo out there and, depending on when you go, it can cost anywhere from 50 to 100. It’s well worth it. The water is clear and full of aquatic life. Just such a cool spot.

5. Makena Beach

Now, after Molokini we’re going to visit the nearby Makena Beach, it’s located on the southern side of Maui about a 35-minute drive from Kahului. Now the beach is huge. It’s about 3000 feet long and features amazing sand and clear water. I had a good time walking the shoreline out to some tide pools and I did some snorkeling there wasn’t a whole lot going to the water, but it was exceptionally clean and I love swimming.

6. Molokini Crater

Now from the beach, you can see the Molokini Crater, which I thought was pretty cool, there’s also another beach called a little beach, which is a short hike over from Makena. I didn’t go there because it was blocked off, but here it’s a popular spot for nudists. So if you’re into that, maybe you’ll check that out anyways it’s such a great place to spend the day after we’re going to drive the north shore of western Maui. Now a lot of people call this the second road to Hana, and I have to say that this is one of my favorite places. I discovered this during my last trip to Maui. I went here almost every day visiting different spots. Now one cool spot is the Makaveli blowhole.

Now it’s located about a 20-minute drive from Kapalua to get to the blowhole, it’s a relatively short hike down. I was just blown away by how powerful the ocean was there when there were just massive waves, just patterning the rocks every 30 or so seconds. The blowhole would go off. Shooting water at least 50 feet high. I mean keep your distance from the hole. It can be dangerous. That’s the last place I would ever want to get sucked into now. Just a 10-minute drive from the blowhole. You can visit the olivine pools.

This is another wild spot right on the ocean. It’s a short hike down and when you reach the bottom you’ll come across these tidal pools that are right on the ocean. I just couldn’t believe how big and powerful the waves were there. Several people have died in the past after a rogue wave, swept them out. So I decided not to go to the pools that day, but regardless it’s just a cool place to go and witness the power of the ocean.

7. West Maui’s North Shore

Now one of my favorite features on West Maui’s north shore is the Kahakuloa Head. It’s this massive 646-foot, scenic landmark. I mean you can see it from miles away and when I saw I just couldn’t believe it existed. One of the old Maui kings used to live here and he would jump off the 200-foot cliffs into the ocean. For his morning, routine, I mean talk about a morning wake-up call from there. You can keep driving on the road you’ll come across some beautiful farmland. I mean I didn’t even feel like it. I was in Hawaii. They reminded me of like somewhere, like new Zealand, there are full rolling hills with incredible coastal cliffs I mean just such a beautiful region. I had no idea existed in Maui

8. Waihee Ridge Trail

After we’re going to head to the Waihee Ridge Trail. Now I have to say this is my favorite hike on Maui, it’s about a four-mile round trip hike and it’s only a 20-minute drive from Kahului. Now the start of the hike begins at a parking lot and you’ll head up this steep cement pathway. After you walk through some beautiful forests and reach an incredible outlook point about halfway up there’s another amazing viewpoint that offers stunning views of the valley. It’s often super cloudy there, but when we were there, we got lucky with clear conditions, and I was just amazed by the view. I couldn’t believe how big the valley was, and there were also some massive waterfalls. So if you’re in Maui, you got to, give this hike a try now another beautiful place in Maui’s mountains is the Iao Valley, State Park.

It’s about a 15-minute drive from Kahului when you get into the park you’re, surrounded by these massive volcanic ridges. I mean it reminded me a lot of the mountains at Oahu. What drew my attention to the park is the 1200-foot eel needle. I mean it’s just such a unique rock formation. Now it costs about ten dollars to park your car there, you can walk on a short paved trail to the needle viewpoint. We followed a trail into the forest and got some more incredible views of the park. It was a beautiful place. You got to check out.

9. Jaws, Peahi

Another famous spot on Maui is Jaws, it’s home to one of the biggest waves in the world. When I was there, the waves were pretty small, but it was still cool to check out the iconic spot. Now, during the winter months, the waves can reach 60 feet the best place to view the waves is from the nearby sea cliffs. The road down to Jaws is just horrible, so if you don’t have a high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle, I suggest walking.

10. Black Rock Beach

After we’re going to one of my favorite beaches on Maui Black Rock Beach. Now it’s located about 10 minutes from Lahaina. This is one of the best beaches, whether you just want to sunbathe or do some adventurous activities. I love cliffs and jumping on the black rock. It’s about 15 feet high, so it’s perfect for most people to jump now around the black rock there’s some incredible snorkeling. The water is just so clear there and it’s full of stunning coral reefs tons of fish and if you’re lucky, you might see a sea turtle or stingray. It’s just such an easy place to snorkel and usually, there are other people around you, which makes it less scary. Anyways Blackrock beach is such a fun place. You got to add to your Maui bucket list.
