Tmkoc Characters: The Bhide Family

Tired or lonely, with family or alone, if there is one show we loved and still love, it is Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma.
Comedy, fun, and “Masala”, but without the negativity of “Saas, Bahu and Saajis.”
Laughter, enjoyment and refreshment without violence, conspiracies and never ending emotional drama.
A reflection of a multicultural society, Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma has been a show loved by audience across all age groups for its simplicity and relentless fun.
It is a show that depicts small, but realistic and important events in a common man’s life. Interestingly, it is one the few shows that celebrates so many roles together. The roles of a teacher, father, son, daughter, grandparent, friend, and much more.
Bored but not busy, I thought doing a character sketch of these lively characters would not only help me revisit the fun, old days of my teenage, but it would also be a great opportunity to once again cherish a time when everyone in the society was an uncle, aunt, brother or sister.
Like the societies we live in, every character in Tmkoc is unique and interesting in their own aspects.
The Bhide Family is another fascinating family at Tmkoc.
1. Atmaram Bhide

The “Ekmevah” or the one and the only one secretary at Gokuldham society. Atmaram Tukaram Bhide is a devoted tuition teacher, who loves going back to his “Hamare Jamane” and school Tappu.
The show depicts Bhide sir as a strict, hard-working tuition teacher, who is always worried about his students. He also makes sure that he spends every penny properly and on right things.
Through Bhide, the show in a subtle manner portrays the life of millions of middle class people.
Bhide like millions of middle class people often runs into financial distress, has aspirations of for his daughter and wants to save enough for a good life.
He struggles, find out ways, but never compromises with his values and integrity. Apart from his wife Madhavi and daughter Sonu, his scooter “Sakharam” also accompanies him through his thick and thin.
Atmaram Bhide is depicted as helpful husband who never hesitates to help Madhavi with the household chores, a caring father, and a responsible secretary.
On a lighter note, if there is one reason we know that is causing him to loose hair, it is Tappu.
2. Madhavi Bhide

Madhavi Bhide is depicted in the series as a loving mother and a caring wife. It is Madhavi, who supports Atmaram Bhide in all his decisions and helps him calm down.
The series also shows how well she runs and manages her “Aachar Paapad Business”. She manages the house, takes care of the family and helps Bhide financially through her “Aachar Paapad Business.”
Madhavi is also seen adding small joys to Bhide’s life be it secretly selecting a scooter for him or helping him with calm down.
3. Sonu

Sonu is a daughter who makes her parents proud. The series depicts Sonu as the most hardworking and brilliant student of Tappu Sena. She is the “Bhide Ji Ki Beti” parents motivate their daughters to become.
Sonu is an active member of the “Tappu Sena” , takes part in all the “Mastis”, finds time for fun, but never lets her father down. The show depicts Atmaram Bhide having a deep trust and love for his daughter.
Sometimes, however, it gets funny and exciting to watch as Sonu gets in a difficult situation as things heat up between her father, Atmaram Bhide, and, her best friend, Tappu.
