Testing the Latest Launch Monitors: Our Hands-on Reviews

As avid golfers, we’re always eager to test out the newest golf technology hitting the market. And over the past few years, as at-home golf simulators have exploded in popularity, launch monitors represent one segment that continues to rapidly advance.

New portable launch monitor models promise greater accuracy, more robust feature sets, and ever-shrinking form factors. But do the latest options really deliver on those claims once you tee it up? We decided to find out.

Our team got hands-on with four of the newest and most buzzed-about portable launch monitors to assess their real-world performance. We evaluated criteria like ease of use, shot tracking consistency, data analytics, and integration with Garage Golf Simulator software.

Here are the in-depth reviews of how each launch monitor fared during grueling head-to-head testing.

Foresight GCQuad

Overview: Foresight’s new flagship monitors claim “best-in-class accuracy” thanks to field-leading quad-camera technology for unprecedented shot data precision.

Key Features:

  • Quad high-speed tracking cameras

  • Enhanced putting analytics

  • Robust compatibility with leading simulator software

Performance: Living up to its billing, the GCQuad set the new bar for consistent accuracy across all shot types. The four tracking cameras assure rock-solid metrics no matter your swing delivery. Enhanced sensors also provide the best putting data we’ve ever tested.

Garage Golf Simulator Integration: Foresight’s FSX software is fantastic, but the GCQuad also pairs smoothly with leading third-parties including E6 Connect and GSPro. Shot tracing and metrics transition seamlessly into the simulator environment.

Overall: If you demand best-in-class performance with no accuracy compromises, the GCQuad is the new leader—albeit at a premium price. For golfers who diligently track swing and game data, the measurably superior numbers separate the GCQuad from any previous offering.

SkyTrak Launch Monitor

Overview: SkyTrak established itself years ago by bringing launch monitors with simulator integration down below $2,000. Their updated 2022 SkyTrak model looks to build on that reputation.

Key Features:

  • Enhanced side spin measurement

  • Improved carry distance accuracy

  • Newly ruggedized exterior and base

Performance: We’re happy to report the new SkyTrak improves upon its already impressive performance, especially for a sub-$2,000 model. Side spin measurement is standout, letting you truly optimize gear adjustments and shot shaping. It also showed excellent consistency swing-after-swing.

Garage Golf Simulator Integration: SkyTrak packages integrate seamlessly with leading simulator software through the SkyTrak app bridge. Dialed in calibration assures accurate environment matching between software platforms.

Overall: SkyTrak gets better while retaining its unmatched price-to-performance ratio. If you want trusted quality and accuracy without paying up for the highest-end, SkyTrak confidently fills that void.

Uneekor EYE LITE Launch Monitor

Overview: Uneekor turns heads with tiny launch monitors packing advanced functionality. The new EYE LITE model promises to build on its predecessor’s strong reputation at a lower price point.

Key Features:

  • Integrated battery for cordless operation

  • Measures ~30 shot metrics with +/- 1% accuracy claimed

  • Auto video capture and analysis

Performance: We came away impressed by the consistency and quality of metrics from such an ultra-compact device. Numbers aligned closely with top performers during side-by-side testing. Auto-tracking and shot video capture also massively boost feedback.

Garage Golf Simulator Integration: Uneekor provides its own simulation software which lacks robust course options. But the auto video sync feature pairs excellently with simulator packages like GSPro and E6 Connect.

Overall: Uneekor packs an amazing amount into a portable form factor under $3,000. Performance lives up to its promise set by the original EYE model. If mobility is vital the EYE LITE warrants close consideration.

FlightScope Mevo+

Overview: FlightScope targets golfers wanting tour-quality data packed into a highly flexible and portable design.

Key Features:

  • Tour-caliber True Flight Doppler radar

  • Wireless updates and functionality

  • 30+ adjustable settings for complete customization

Performance: Simply put, we have never tested portable launch monitor technology as sophisticated as FlightScope’s mini radar system. The depth and precision of measurement feels close to a full indoor bays.

Garage Golf Simulator Integration: Given its portable nature, the Mevo+ pairs awesome with simulator software for both indoor and outdoor setups. FlightScope also recently partnered with leading simulator brands to expand course options.

Overall: The Mevo+ comes at a premium cost, but its functionality and accuracy rocket ahead of lower-priced competitors. If you crave robust adjustability and as close to tour-level data possible from a portable form, the Mevo+ delivers.

The Bottom Line

Across the board, we walked away amazed at how far portable launch monitor technology has pushed accuracy and performance in just the past year alone. Whether your budget is below $1,000 or up to $10,000, the options enable golfers at all levels to access advanced shot metrics for skills development.

While steeper costs come with the top models like GCQuad and FlightScope Mevo+, their precision justifies the investment for golfers tracking performance over time. But even more affordable options from SkyTrak and Uneekor still provide plenty of insight to help dial in your game.
