Sassa Grants

This article will provide an overview of the different types of SASSA grants and the eligibility criteria for each.

Old Age Grant

The Old Age Grant is provided to individuals who are 60 years or older and who do not have any other sources of income. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents and must be residing in South Africa. The amount of the Old Age Grant is reviewed and adjusted annually.

Disability Grant

The Disability Grant is provided to individuals who have a permanent disability and are unable to work. Child Support Grant

Care Dependency Grant

To be eligible for this grant, applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents and must provide medical evidence of the dependent's condition. The amount of the Care Dependency Grant is reviewed and adjusted annually.

The COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant is a temporary grant that was introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This grant is provided to individuals who are unemployed or unable to generate income due to the pandemic. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents and must not be receiving any other form of income or grant. The COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant is provided for a period of six months.
