Romantic Kerala Honeymoon Trip

Kerala, also known as "God's own country," is a popular destination for couples seeking a romantic getaway. With its serene beaches, tranquil backwaters, lush green forests, and beautiful hill stations, Kerala is an ideal place to spend a memorable honeymoon. Here is a blog about my Kerala honeymoon trip.

We arrived in Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala, on a bright sunny day. Kochi is a beautiful city that blends history, culture, and modernity. We spent the first day exploring the city and visiting its iconic landmarks, including the Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, and the Mattancherry Palace. In the evening, we watched a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance form of Kerala that tells stories through facial expressions and gestures.

The next day, we headed to Munnar, a picturesque hill station nestled in the Western Ghats. The drive to Munnar was breathtaking, with the winding roads offering stunning views of tea plantations and misty valleys. We stayed in a cozy resort with a panoramic view of the hills. We spent the day exploring the town, visiting the tea museum, and taking a stroll through the lush green tea gardens.

On the third day, we took a jeep safari to the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The park was a beautiful mix of grasslands, sholas, and rocky terrain. We were lucky to spot a herd of Nilgiri Tahrs grazing in the grasslands. In the evening, we returned to our resort and spent the night stargazing from our balcony.

The next morning, we drove to Thekkady, a beautiful town located on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The town is known for its Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, tigers, and bison. We took a boat ride on the Periyar Lake and were fortunate to spot a herd of elephants grazing by the lakeside.

On the fifth day, we drove to Alleppey, also known as the "Venice of the East." We boarded a houseboat for a day-long cruise on the backwaters of Alleppey. The houseboat was equipped with all the amenities, including a bedroom, living room, and a kitchen. The backwaters were a mesmerizing sight, with the gentle sway of the boat adding to the charm. We were served traditional Kerala cuisine on the boat, which was delicious.

The next morning, we disembarked from the houseboat and drove to Kovalam, a beautiful beach town located on the southern coast of Kerala. We stayed in a beachfront resort and spent the day relaxing on the beach, enjoying the warm sun and the cool breeze. In the evening, we walked along the promenade, watching the sunset and enjoying the street food.

On the seventh day, we took a day trip to the nearby Poovar Island. The island is located at the estuary of the Neyyar River and the Arabian Sea and is famous for its golden sand beach and the backwaters. We took a boat ride through the backwaters and spotted a variety of birds, including kingfishers and herons. We also visited the local fishing village and interacted with the friendly locals.

On the last day of our trip, we bid goodbye to Kerala with a heavy heart. We drove back to Kochi, where we spent the day shopping for souvenirs and gifts for our friends and family. In the evening, we took a stroll along the Marine Drive, enjoying the cool sea breeze and the beautiful view of the harbor.

In conclusion, our Kerala honeymoon trip was an unforgettable experience. We fell in love with the serene beaches, tranquil backwaters, lush green forests, and beautiful hill stations of Kerala. The warm hospitality of the locals and the delicious cuisine added to the charm of the trip. We highly recommend Kerala as a honeymoon destination for couples looking for a romantic getaway. It has something for everyone - adventure, relaxation, and culture. We hope to return someday to relive the magical moments we shared on this trip.
