Life, maybe it's a story waiting to be told or a painting waiting to be coloured or a book waiting to be opened or closed. The longing is persistent.

We have always waited to grow up as a child. Couldn't wait to get through teenage and as adults, well I haven't discovered it yet but will surely unveil the horror soon. Then we wait for success, and after attaining that humans spend their entire life longing and searching for peace and happiness. This is basically an unending treachery of life to keep us waiting for something or the other. A thin thread of hope keeps us lingering.

Everyone has so many things that they are awaiting for, there are materialistic stuff and stuff with great emotional value. The interesting part is that the list of things we want is neither finite nor permanent. The point I am trying to establish is that with the gain of one thing we longed for we start hoping for a new things. The "things" we are referring to here are literally anything it can be opportunities, success, happiness, love, marks or grades etc... mostly petty things. Ultimately the gain, loss and changes become unnoticeable and even ineffective but this gradual extension of the wish list becomes a habit. It's in the state of dynamic equilibrium you see.

So for somethings the wait is over and for some it's never. So the only content is in the fact that we know that we are waiting. It's is the satisfaction of knowing we didn't give up, or the feeling of secretly acknowledging that it's was too much to ask for in the first place. So don't stop the wait but don't put so much faith and hope into it that if its not received or achieved it brings your life to a halt.
