Management Lessons From Ancient India

When it comes to management styles, there are many like democratic, autocratic, consultative, persuasive, and finally chaotic. Managers of today are mostly focused on profit and business without taking human values, morality and the society into consideration. This often leads to chaos, disputes and many other un wanted problems coming up and I think this is where the Indian scriptures and epics come into the picture.

I, in this blog, make an attempt to bring out many such incidents and situations from ancient Indian scriptures so that all of us can benefit from these in the future.

Mahabharata - This was a war that was fought between two groups - Two brothers for the throne of Hastinapur. This text holds a lot of lessons, ethics and values that we can learn and make our lives what we wish for. The Pandavas who were very few in numbers defeated the mighty Kauravas with the help of sheer determination, Planning, and proper management of their units. The leader of Kauravas has been portrayed as a very destructive person and because of his arrogance, pride and incapability of taking decisions, he led his entire clan into destruction and wrath. His side had a lot of differences among themselves and they lacked unity. Pandavas, on the other side were having a common purpose, and there was a unity for that purpose. Moreover, strategies laid down by Lord Krishna was a cherry on the cake.

Ramayana - The story of a righteous man who is on a journey to find his wife who has been kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. It was his policy of 'Dharma" - Righteousness throughout his journey that has set an example of what an ideal man is. Lord Ram travelled across India leaving his comfort zone and struggled for 14 years leading an army of Monkeys to defeat the demon king. His story is full of the incidents that he faced and he manages everything without a single thought of "adharma" - un-righteousness.

Bhagwad Gita - Gita is all that you need to know about the soul. It's a set of 18chapters, where the Lord talks about various types of Yogas, karma, soul and philosophies. The book is a part of Mahabharata and is said to be taught by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the middle of the battlefield. The confused prince Arjuna has innumerable doubts about life, soul, heart and mind which is in turn cleared by the Lord. The philosophy teaches us not to be affected by happiness and sorrow as they are the part of our lives, instead one should do their best of Karma ( Duty) without any attachment and expectations of fruitive results.

Chanakya Neeti - The book of administration, law, politics and self help too. The Chanakya Neeti also called as "Arthashastra of Kautilya" is indeed a good book for changing your perspectives on what the world actually is. Chanakya was a pioneer in the field of administration and political science. He assisted Chandragupta Maurya to his become a king and establish the Mauryan empire. Here are the Top 9 lessons from the Chanakya Neeti that you can change your life forever.

Conclusion - There are many such great leaders, saints, and divine personalities that were born in India and their life can teach us a lot of things that can create a huge impact on this world if we use them on day to day basis.
