Hoverboard Safety Tips- Things You Should Never Do
Are you having fun riding your Segway? Well, you should since these are the most accessible and modern devices close to the levitating hoverboard from the movie, Back to the Future.
Coming back to the point, how is your experience with Segway until now? It works great, gives a good battery time, and is comfortable. What more could you have asked for? Although e-scooters are amazing at doing what they were made for, they have limitations.
Here are some things that every Segway owner should avoid doing if they want their boards to last a lifetime:
Do not Overcharge
People have a habit of leaving their phones or laptops on charging for the entire night. They feel this is the only way they can get a full battery. You can get a full battery in just a few hours, so there is no need to leave your electronics on charging for the entire night, as it can ruin the battery.
The same goes for electric scooters. While some people have a habit of putting it on charging after the battery completely dies out, others keep charging it every night. Rather than doing it any good, your habit will only decrease your battery life.
It will be worn out quickly and affect the performance, so ensure to charge your self-balancing boards appropriately!
2. Experimenting with Different Surfaces
Not all hoverboards are compatible with all types of terrains. Some are designed for even surfaces; others are ideal for rugged tracks. So, do not think of experimenting with riding your hoverboard made for even surface to rugged terrain just because you feel “adventurous”.
Doing so will damage the tires and the board as a whole, which you are certain to regret later!
3. Do not Ride in the Rain
Hoverboards aren’t made for riding on wet surfaces or in Rain. Why? Because the water can easily enter the motor and lead to irreversible damage. So, when it rains outside, do not make the mistake of taking your Segway outside, or you’ll spend extra bucks on getting a new one.
4. Putting More Load than the Capacity
In all excitement, one of the biggest mistakes people make is putting more weight on the self-balancing board than it can handle. It doesn’t matter how much you weigh when riding a bicycle or driving a car. But your weight does matter when it comes to riding an electric scooter.
E-scooters come with a maximum load capacity that differs for every model. And if you exceed the capacity, you will end up hurting yourself and damaging the board simultaneously.
5. Not Storing It Properly
When was the last time that you rode your Segway? It has been quite a time. When your electric scooters are not in use, ensure you fold them properly and store them in a dry place with no moisture, or it can ruin the battery.
Increase the Life of Your Hoverboards
How you treat your segways and use them says a lot about how long they will last. If you overcharge it, put more weight on it or ride it on wet surfaces, understand that the electric scooter will wear sooner than it should have.
You can get it regularly serviced for repair and maintenance. Do not let the battery exhaust and charge it only for a few hours. Once the charging is full, plug it off. Moreover, choose the terrain best suited to your hoverboard model and avoid others.
Also, please keep it away from the water, which means neither take it out in the Rain nor wash it with water.
