Famous Durga Puja of Kolkata

Durga Puja is one of the most famous festival of West Bengal. It is celebrated with great joy and vigour. As the name suggest is the festival of Goddess Durga and her victory over the demon called Mahisha Sura . It last for 10 days and it's first Pooja is Mahalaya . 

People of West Bengal decorates pandals and put up the idol of Goddess Durga within. People and families go around pandal hopping with friends to have a glimpse of the best pandals. Puja carries on for 9 days and at the last day people carry the idol with great respect and happiness dancing and celebrating the victory of the goddess the idol is immersed into the river with great respect that's how the pooja gets over at the 10th day with the ideal emotion into the river.
