Celebrities dressed to the nines are to be expected at the world's glitziest film festival, and this year's edition of the Cannes Film Festival did not disappoint in the fashion department. There were some definite hits from Bollywood stars at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, from Deepika Padukone's custom Louis Vuitton gown to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's floral Dolce & Gabbana creation. Given that India was announced as the official 'country of honor' at the Marche' Du Films, also known as the Cannes Film Market, which is held on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival, the presence of Indian celebrities at the French festival was especially high this year.
Desi representation was strong at Cannes 2022, with Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan among the regulars, as well as actors Aditi Rao Hydari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Pooja Hegde, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, composers Ricky Kej, and folk singer Mame Khan. Here are some Indian celebrities who nailed the Cannes fashion – and some who didn't.
1. Dolce & Gabbana on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Cannes veteran Aishwarya Rai Bachchan nailed red carpet glam in a dramatic black Dolce & Gabbana gown with exaggerated floral detailing. Her previous all-pink Maison Valentino ensemble did not go over well, and her sculptural Gaurav Gupta couture gown for a later event also divided opinion, but fans of the actor agreed that her outfit for the screening of Top Gun: Maverick hit all the right notes.
2. Louis Vuitton on Deepika Padukone
While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made florals for spring look revolutionary, Deepika Padukone's Louis Vuitton overcoat did not go over well. The look, which was worn over a minidress and knee-high boots, left many wondering why the actor opted for fall fashion for an event held during the French summer.
3. Deepika Padukone wears a black Louis Vuitton gown that she designed herself.
For her third red carpet appearance at Cannes, Deepika Padukone chose a stunning black custom Louis Vuitton gown. She wore the feathered gown with minimal jewelry, **** lips, and kohl-rimmed eyes – not much to fault, as the actor looked lovely.
4. Ali Younes Couture on Urvashi Rautela
This year's Cannes red carpet featured yet another long black gown, but Urvashi Rautela in an Ali Younes Couture ruffled gown failed to impress.
5.Mark Bumgarner's Aditi Rao Hydari
What about a dramatic silhouette? Check. What do you think about color blocking? Check. Is your hair in order? Check. What's not to like about Aditi Rao Hydari's ensemble? We'd venture to say very little.
6.Sabyasachi Aditi Rao Hydari
Aditi Rao Hydari's next look, unfortunately, disappointed us. The actor wore a Sabyasachi gown with a belt and Sabyasachi jewelry. Her hair was swept back in a bun, and she wore a pink hairband that seemed out of place.
7. Hina Khan is a character in the film Favori
Hina Khan is all that glitters in this stunning golden gown by Favori. It was a definite fashion hit at this year's Cannes Film Festival, with its thigh-high slit and tailored fit.
