Castle Avenue: Seating Capacity, History, Location and Pitch

Located in Clontarf, Dublin is Castle Avenue, an Irish sports stadium used mostly for cricket and rugby.The stadium was established in 1958 and is a regular location for international cricket matches. It is the home ground of the Irish cricket team and also Clontarf Rugby Team. Owned and operated by Cricket Ireland, the stadium is home to the national team. The cricket and rugby venue is equipped with floodlights for day-and-night games. 

History

As part of the 1999 Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh played the West Indies at Clontarf, one of three One Day International (ODI) grounds in Ireland (the others are Stormont in Belfast and Malahide in Dublin). Clontarf hosted its first ODI on 21 May 1999. An ODI was played at that venue for the first time in July 2007 as part of a quadrangular series between Ireland and the West Indies. ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier matches were played at this facility in 2015. Bangladesh played New Zealand in the 2017 Ireland Tri-Nation Series on May 17, 2017, the first ever match between two Full Members at the venue.

It is imperative that the batters make sure that the new ball is in good shape early in the game since the weather is expected to be breezy, which will cause the new ball to move from the surface.
