What makes a good reputation?
What makes a good reputation? This is a question that is being asked by many people. The answer to the question is not simple and it differs from one person to another. Some say that you can build your reputation if you keep on working and putting in the effort needed. Others say that you can build your reputation if you show kindness and respect for others.
A good reputation is earned through honesty, consistency, and reliability. The truth is, reputation matters whether you like it or not. Your colleagues, clients, customers, and competitors all see you based on their experiences and perceptions. They paint pictures of you in their mind that color how they interact with you.
Why is it vital to have a good professional reputation?
When you think of a professional reputation, what comes to mind? A person who is hardworking and reliable? Someone who meets deadlines and gets the job done right? An individual whose work can trust above others? If so, then you understand the importance of having a good professional reputation.
The value of a good reputation cannot be emphasized. A great reputation is essential for every company or person because it provides credibility, which may lead to more customers, better sales, and higher profits.
Show Passion and Knowledge to your audience
When you decide to create or build an online business creating content either through blogging, video, or email marketing, you need to work with something that you are passionate about and have knowledge around.
Something you already know and are interested into better present that information to help others while providing guidance in that area.
Once you have built a following, you can position yourself as an authority figure, which you can then use that power to greater effect, as you will understand what it is that your audience needs and you know what will be the best solutions that can help solve any potential issues they may have.
It will take time to put yourself in this powerful position, but as long as you know what your audience needs and are willing to put them first, your business will be successful.
Know Your Audience Needs
This same concept will work for building a following through email and many other avenues online, as it is all about communication and consistency.
Once you understand your audience's needs, you can increase your email open rates, and video views it... as you are, e, creating consistent and powerful content that keeps them coming back for more.
But to know your audience's needs, you need to:
Communicate with followers
Ask them questions
Look for areas you can position yourself in
Do research on your audience
Look at the areas that interest them
See what they need help with
Before long you will be able to understand what it is that you should focus on to cater to their needs.
By helping others, they are helping you, which in turn will grow your business over time. This will work in any area, topic, or niche where you have some experience.
You provide that knowledge to those that need it the most.
Basic Traits To Build A Good Reputation That Will Make Your Audience Read your Emails
1. Promote useful products that will help people
Also, most of the time we write a post with a target audience in mind, and we try to write something that will be useful. If you are not engaging with your audience, not responding to questions, not helping others, or promoting shady or useless products only to make sales, it will have a negative effect on your reputation.
Here are some points you don't want your email content to be:
Have poor grammar and spelling
Used for promoting low-quality products or services
Here are a blog post that you can read about giving software apps or plugins to affiliates to offer.
2. Be Sincere and Transparent
You are transparent in your vision as people know that your sincerity will put their needs first over your own.
A lot of newbie marketers and entrepreneurs struggle to understand this concept at first, and some never understand it even after months or years of trying to build an online business. As they have the wrong mindset and only think of themselves above others which leads them to do what they are doing for selfish reasons.
But to build a good solid reputation with your audience, sincere, trust and transparence will be key to your future successes.
That is why it is so important to maintain good relationships with your audience so that your reputation can increase.
I have made a blog post discussing personal coaching and support to give more information about this topic.
3. Offer Value
When you write an email, your goal should be to provide value to the reader. You want to give them information that they didn't have. It doesn't matter if you are writing about how to grow tomatoes or how to become a more effective leader – the key is to provide value.
To give ideas on how to provide added value offers to your audience. I have made a handful of blogs which discuss this topic.
You need to remember and understand that if people have signed up to your email list and given you their email address, it is because you are giving them something they want, which considered valuable.
4. Be trustworthy to them
The results you want will happen in time, but only if you can position yourself and your online business as a service first and be willing to be consistent at working with or engaging with others to help them with their issues and needs.
If you can help them and provide value while building a level of trust, they will return the favor by purchasing what you recommend through:
Recommending your services to others
Letting you know what they need help with the most
This will allow you to become an authority in your area over time where people will know, like and trust you as they see that you have their best interests at heart and are not doing this for your own personal gains.
5. Put your audience first and understand them
Put your audience first and ask yourself would you feel comfortable recommending a particular product to a close friend?
If the answer is no, then you don't want to risk trying to promote it to your subscribers on your email list.
We have all made these mistakes, let's be honest... but know that if you want to succeed at building a long term sustainable online business that can generate you revenue for months or even years to come. Then you have to understand that it isn't about you for what you want or think that you deserve.
If you have that mindset, then you are doing this for selfish reasons.
I get it, we all want to quit our 9-5 job in the pursuit of something better and building a life that we can have full control over... but to achieve that, we need to, first, take ourselves or what we want out of the equation and put other people's needs in front of our own.
It will only have negative effects on your reputation!
6. Be kind and considerate
Be kind and considerate to your audience. You don't want to come out as harsh and aggressive, whether you're an individual blogger or a company. To develop a good reputation, you must be accessible and kind. When someone has an issue with your business or product, they should be able to reach you with ease.
The number one problem I see among bloggers is that they are too mean and aggressive. They aren't kind to their readers or their fellow bloggers. Because of this, they are often not taken. Plus, kindness and consideration go a long way on the internet.
Being nice is being yourself, except in front of a camera or keyboard. It means being honest, caring, and helpful to your audience.
The traits we have discussed in this article are basic, but they will go a long way towards building a good reputation with your audience. If you've enjoyed reading about these traits, then you should definitely read our other articles on the subject.
Make sure that you stay consistent with these habits and you will be able to nurture trust in your audience while building a relationship with them.
