What's a Christmas without any carols, songs and jams that we hear at this time of the year. Forget about the candies, cookies, feasts, bells, carols, and happy faces all around. It just doesn't feel like Christmas without the jolly jams!
Christmas songs will always put you in the right mood for the season. But sometimes it just gets difficult to choose the right ones among so many good ones already out there. However, I have made it easy for you. Here's a list of 35 Best Christmas Songs of all time for you to listen to and celebrate this Christmas.
1. Jingle Bells
Who else can't get over the 'ding ding ding' version of Jingle Bells by the Crazy Frog!?
''Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh''
I wish I could have a ride in that one-horse open sleigh :(
2. We Three Kings
"Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign."
Everyone who had studied in a convent school will know this song by heart. Every year when Christmas is just around the corner, this song starts ringing in everyone's heart and makes everyone intoxicated, happy, and merry with the festive vibes.
3. This Christmas
Released on 28 September 2010, this song is a Christmas hit ever since. Of all the Christmas songs, this one is the one that gets me in the spirit. It never gets old. Chris Brown needs to bless us with a whole Christmas playlist.
"Hang all the mistletoe
I'm gonna get to know you better this Christmas"
4. Thank God It's Christmas
This song will definitely hit different this 2020 Christmas!
Lyrics to the song:
''It's been a long hard year but now it's Christmas''
Wondering if Freddie knew about how 2020 would go. You will forever be missed, Freddie :(
5. Blue Christmas
Another beautiful Christmas song! Sung by Elvis Presley, released in 1957, this song will always have its place among the top 10 Christmas songs of all time.
"I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you"
6. Underneath the tree
"Christmas was cold and grey
Another holiday alone to celebrate
But then, one day, everything changed"
After years of climbing on both the American and Canadian adult contemporary charts, in 2019 it became the first-holiday song to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Written and sung by Kelly Clarkson, this song has become a recurring Top 40 hit in over eleven regions worldwide.
7. All I want for Christmas is you
Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas is you' has been a Christmas anthem for almost 2 decades now. Released in 1994, Mariah co-wrote and co-produced it with Walter Afanasieff for her fourth studio album and first holiday album, Merry Christmas. One good thing that 2020 has to offer is that this song has finally made it to Number one on the UK charts.
The fun fact about this song is that Mariah still earns millions in royalties from this song ;)
8. East 17 - Stay Another Day
"Baby if you've got to go away
don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day?"
Taken from the album "Steam" released in 1994, this song was never meant to be a Christmas song but whenever you hear it, you think of Christmas. Despite being a love song, it was written for Tony's brother Oldie, who had committed suicide.
9. Christmas Lights
Released on 1st December 2010, in a classic 'Coldplay' way, 'Christmas Lights' is a simple yet beautiful piano-based melody that grabs your attention in the first tune.
10. Mistletoe
''It's the most beautiful time of the year
Streets filled with lights and so much cheer
I should be playing in the winter snow
But im'ma be under the mistletoe"
My all-time favorite Justin Bieber's 'Mistletoe' is the first single from his album 'Under the Mistletoe'. A warm and fuzzy song with a pleasant and unfussy melody. Bieber's voice here seems matured than his 'Baby' days.
11. Last Christmas
''Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special"
This song is probably one of my most favorite ones as this is something very different from other Christmas songs. It's not about happiness and merriment but a song of heartbreak and pain of unrequited love. Nevertheless, I love to listen to it for its wonderful music and rhythm and the soulful voice of the singer.
12. Baby its cold outside by John Legend
This song became quite controversial after its release. It's some kind of flirty, peppy, and romantic between a man and a woman. A party song, where the host wants the woman to stay back, but she wants to go as she fears what society would say. Anyone who wants to listen to some good rhythms will surely enjoy this song.
13. Do they know it's Christmas
The background of this song is the Ethiopian famine which took away lots of life in Africa. It tells about how one part of the world is celebrating Christmas while some people are dying of famine during this festive season.
This song has been re-recorded 3 times: in 1989, 2004, and 2014. All of them were charity records. 1989 and 2004 versions provided money for famine relief while the 2014 version raised funds for the Ebola crisis.
14. Lights on
This is one of the best holiday songs. Very catchy lyrics and Ryan Beatty's passionate and expressive vocals did pure justice to the song. Anyone would love to hear this song and be mesmerized by it.
"Leave the lights on
It may take a while but I am coming home"
15. Snow in California
''Just make it snow in California
I'll even settle for rain
Don't want him to go tomorrow morning
Give me something to make him stay"
This song needs more recognition. I love the relatable meaning to it like honestly, we've all had someone we love who we barely get to see, and this song describes the longing of wanting them close.
16. Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms
Released in 1970, from the album 'Jingle Bell Rock', this seasonal song is a 90's classic.
17. What Christmas Means To Me - Stevie Wonder
A jolly Christmas number written by Anna Gordy Gaye, George "Horgay" Gordy, and Allen Story. This song tells me to stay positive. Even in a horrible year we've had, just remember to have a positive attitude and make someone smile. You'll feel just as good as they did. We're so close to a new year and cheers to 2021 for a better year.
18. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
''Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
Next year all our troubles will be out of sight''
All Christmas songs are merry and cheerful. This song will hit a little different this Christmas. Judy Garland was a gem. It has such hope, yet such sadness wrapped up in one song.
19. The Christmas Song
Only Nat King Cole could do this song. A classic Christmas song was written by Mel Tormé and Bob Wells in 1944 and was first recorded by The King Cole Trio in 1946. The first line of the lyrics, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire", is enough to make you feel cozy and Christmassy.

Soon the bells will start
And the thing that'll make 'em ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart"
28. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
Written in the 1940s, the Frank Sinatra version of this song is an all-time Christmas favorite without it actually mentioning anything about Christmas!
"Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
Since we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"
'Let it snow!' gives a chilly wintery vibe and can serve the purpose of being a festive anthem.
29. Santa Claus is coming to town
Another Christmas hit by Mariah Carey. Although the song was reportedly written in the 1930s, many had covered including Bing Crosby, the Four Seasons, The Jackson 5, and Michael Buble. The best of all the covers is Mariah's. No wonder fans love seeing Mariah go merry about Christmas :P
30. Driving Home for Christmas
