You Can Control Overthinking  -  Here Is How I did

It is hard to not think and procrastinate about your future whenever you get some 'Me' time.

Look it is normal, and we all do the same. But it crosses the limit when it crosses the line. Mean, when you start overthinking and demotivating yourself.

It is ok to be anxious about our future, it is the "fear of the unknown". But if that is happening all the time and putting you outside of reality then it is a problem.

I also suffered the same. In past I used to be so anxious about what I will do, am I doing the right thing, what will happen if I fail, and possibly hundreds of feelings like this.

But it does not happen anymore or better I will say it does not affect me anymore.

Over the course of a couple of years, I have learned it is possible to control your feelings and this overthinking nature. And that is what I am going to share with you in this blog.

You will get to know how I manage my feelings and how you can also do the same by applying my advice.

1) Listening to songs

Who does not love music?

It has the power to change our mood. And that is why I use them to lift me up whenever I am down. The type of music you choose to listen to will reflect how you will feel.

If I feel down I prefer choosing hard rap songs. My favorite go-to artist in those moments is Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers).

You can apply the same advice in your case also.

Look it is all in the brain. So, it is all about distracting the brain. Listening to mood-boosting songs can cause a rush of feel-good hormones in the brain which can eventually lift your feelings.

2) Spending time with close ones

We, humans, are social creatures.

Mean we need human touch no matter how much solitary life we live.

So, whenever we spend time alone for long we started feeling this way.

That is why I prefer spending time with my friends whenever I start overthinking.

Talking to them and having fun makes me get out of the rut of overthinking. For me, it is better to spend time with them in nature than procrastinating constantly at home.

It makes no sense to get swallowed by negative thoughts.

3) Reminding me that it is ok

Whenever I am down with deep fear of the future I always try to remind myself that it is common to fear what is coming. It is not only me who is feeling at the moment.

There are hundreds of people around the world who are feeling the same as me.

Humans are born with this nature. Even the people who seem to sort everything in their life also feel this.

4) Admitting how far I have come

When I am overthinking I always say to my inner self - "Look how far you have come."

Saying this to me give me strength that I have never thought I will be able to make this far but I did it. So, I can achieve my goals for the future also if I try my best.

It is nothing that is impossible in life if we set our minds.

5) Writing down thoughts

This one is probably the reason why I started writing online.

I used to, even now also, whenever I feel thousands of thoughts in my mind I write down them.

I open my Notepad on mobile and write whatever I feel. No correction of grammar, no proper sentencing, no correction of words, nothing.

Also, another thing that I do is that I also write down my goals. And when I am down I show myself that.

It gives me the motivation to start taking action. Because actions lead to outcomes.

So, that are the major things I do when I constantly overthink. By the way, I also watch/binge motivational videos too in that time.
