Hollywood movies are often very highly acclaimed. They set a level for other movie industries as well. Thus, it is no surprise that quite a lot of movies are reworked (reproduced and redirected) based upon Hollywood movies.

While reworking, the re-workers forget that the remakes also need a lot of input. The execution of Hollywood-Bollywood remakes really matters.

While taking inspiration from an exceptional Hollywood movie and transforming it into one that leaves a mark on the box-office of their industry, there is simply no chance to make it the worst Bollywood remake.

Sadly, the worst Bollywood remakes list is long. Here at Feeding Trends, we have a list of 9 films that have contributed to the list of worst Bollywood remakes:

1) PLAYERS (Bollywood remake of The Italian Job)

It can be very well said that Abbas- Mastan’s Players is one of the worst Bollywood remakes. PLAYERS movie would never do justice to the actual Hollywood movie Italian Job, from which it is “inspired”.

This movie about a group of thieves was a major let down and did very bad with the critics too, leave alone the audiences. It was a perfect waste of time, energy and money – the first worst Bollywood remake on our list.

Even after calling it a different expedition, its scenes are often exactly the same as that of the original movie, just in a very disrespectful way. The movie has a lot of hard to digest parts wherein the actors make their heists look as if it’s a child’s play.

IMDB Rating: 4.1/10

2) God Tussi Great Ho (Bollywood remake of Bruce Almighty)

From the zigzag storyline to the untimed comedy, to the awful music, God Tussi Great Ho movie was a disaster. Inspired by Bruce Almighty, the Bollywood remake couldn’t even touch the lowest mark, the Hollywood film had created.

Bruce Almighty has one of Jim Carrey’s most remembered acting. The Bollywood remake, even after having a strong star cast, didn’t even come close to doing justice to the original movie.

The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Anupam Kher in lead roles. Yet, the untimed jokes were so forced and the music was so awful and cinema halls were almost vacant. Much to surprise, Priyanka Chopra acted as if she were a mere prop in the movie.

IMDB Rating: 3.6/10

3) Action Replay (Bollywood remake of Back to the Future)

Even though ‘Back to the Future’ was never a movie of my childhood but growing up I did realize that it was a cult classic that you do not mess with.

But then, the movie Action Replay, the Bollywood version of it, happened and I could never get over that blow. Just dresses and hairstyles don’t do it right, right?

The movie, Action Replay again has a forced comedic timing and unnecessary background music. The characters and seem highly questionable and far from relatable.

Action Replay is far from doing justice to the iconic movie, Back to the Future and thus, has a rightful place on the worst Bollywood remakes list.

IMDb Rating: 4.2/10

4) Milenge Milenge (Bollywood remake of Serendipity)

In Bollywood, every love story seems the same to me. Although Milenge Milenge was a remake of Serendipity, the characters were similar to all Bollywood romantic films.

The characters were having great expectations, dumb life decisions, and low self-esteem. And it is quite rare to watch a romantic movie that greatly resonates with the times now, without promoting violence or cheating.

The Hollywood movie Serendipity, if not the best romantic movie, is certainly one that makes it look like a fairytale and magical story. However, the Bollywood remake movie was another cliché.

It was an expectation-filled movie, which certainly didn’t live up to the audience’s expectation.

IMDB Rating: 4.1/10

5) Yuvvraj (Bollywood remake of Rain Man)

This movie is indeed an honorable mention in the worst Bollywood remake list. The story is not just bad but overall, the movie is just extremely boring. The attempt to make it a musical does not really help because the story just does not make sense.

The original movie, Rain Man is an Oscar winner. It is greatly remembered for being the first movie to talk about autism and its great representation of mental health.

Yuvvraj is just a pathetic attempt at giving an Indian touch to the movie. Salman Khan’s accent is comic and the highly unnecessary drama is very soap opera inspired. Aptly, it falls in the worst Bollywood reworks list.

IMDb Rating: 4.3/10

6) Kyon Ki (Bollywood remake of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest)

At this point, I am wondering why this list has so many Salman Khan Movies. But trust me, this is not my prejudice against him. I believe the movie ‘Kyon Ki’ is slightly better than the other Salman Khan movies on the worst Bollywood remakes list.

The movie represented the ill-treatment of mental patients in psychiatric centers, and it was just a tough pill to swallow, as I believe that they just went way overboard with it.

Firstly, the Bollywood remake ignored the fact that a lot of psychiatric centers have a policy of letting the families take care of the patients if they are capable of doing so. None of them want to keep hoarding patients after patients, even if they are well enough to leave.

Secondly, the idea of a psychiatrist/psychologist adopting harsh and violent ways to keep their patients under control is such disrespect to their training.

The original Hollywood movie, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is a moving story. It does not degrade the entire profession as its main antagonist is a nurse. Altogether, Kyon Ki became a worst Bollywood remake.

IMDb Rating: 5.5/10

7) Bichhoo (Bollywood remake of Leon the Professional)

If you haven’t heard of this movie then you don’t need to, trust me. The Bichhoo movie is about Bobby Deol avenging the death of his lover’s parents (Rani Mukherjee’s parents).

The plot is senseless. The songs in Bichhoo are pathetic and the tacky romance is just too forced. Rani Mukherjee and Bobby Deol are just pathetic in their roles.

On the other hand, Leon the Professional is a cult classic, not just about revenge but about the relationship Leon has with his 12-year-old neighbor whose parents have been killed.

The Hollywood movie won several awards, and that is why the terrible Bollywood remake was made. Bichhoo is nowhere close to Leon the Professional.

IMDb Rating: 4.8/10

8) Singh is Kinng (Bollywood remake of Miracles)

Akshay Kumar has done a lot of comic roles. His character in Singh is Kinng is inspired by the Hollywood Jackie Chan movie, Miracles.

He is the ‘Singh’ in ‘Singh is Kinng’ and this is the least role that makes sense to anyone. The movie is just a series of random incidents happening.

The Punjabi stereotypes are just too much at times and the action is just too much to take in. Singh is Kinng is an exact rip-off and does not provide much originality to the plot in any sense.

It might have entertained the Punjabi group of audience, but little did they know they made a worst Bollywood remake.

IMDb Rating: 5.6/10

9) Game (Bollywood remake of And Then There Were None)

The Bollywood remake is inspired by ‘And Then There Were None’, which is not just a great movie but one of the best stories written by Agatha Christie.

The Indian inspired movie is just all over the place. The storyline has so many plot holes that it gets annoying halfway through the movie.

The plot is just very cliché and it really is the time that the filmmakers understand that there is a lot more than revenge and money that can be portrayed in Indian movies. And what’s with the corny dialogues?

IMDb Rating: 5.1/10

So this was our list of the worst Hollywood to Bollywood adaptations. If you think there is one missing on the list, please leave them in the comment box below.

Luckily, Bollywood has started coming out with great original scripts that are about Indians in general and not the same old dramatized version of what we’ve been looking at since day one of cinema.

And with such wonderful scripts, we hope Bollywood movies will inspire remakes in Hollywood now!
