For long we have been fans of GOT characters and dialogues. From ‘Fear cuts deeper than the swords’ to ‘Nothing burns like cold’, GOT is no less than a religion. The characters and their stories are memorable just like the wacky magic and the giant dragons. But there’s something else besides the theme song that will keep GOT as an essential part of our lives forever.

HBO wanted to keep the GOT religion flowing in the blood of fans and so, they launched Wines of Game of Thrones in 2017. These wines are made in partnership with Vintage Wine Estates and as summer is coming, the wines are once again coming!

1.Cabernet Sauvignon

Master winemaker Bob Cabral has summoned his legendary skills to craft a wine worthy of the Iron Throne. Sourced from the finest winegrowing kingdoms of the land, it is as complex as the tales and histories it acclaims. Revel in the winemaker’s art, for winter is here.

2. Chardonnay

This elegant white wine is favoured by those who prefer a golden, refined quaff. It is considered among the finest in the Seven Kingdoms. Soaked in the GOT flavours, it will be perfect to have by your side while watching GOT episodes.

3. Red Wine Blend

This blend of select lots is considered among the favourites those who prefer dry, robust reds. And we do like red. Often served at feasts, paired with hearty meats, roasts and blackbird pie, poured at Small Council sessions.

And trust us, as delicious as those wines look in the show, they are equally amazing to the taste buds. Since we all craved for them like mad people, it was necessary to take these wines out of the TV screens. HBO did exactly that!

The idea of wines was born out of the success story of Game of Thrones Beer. Yes, Beers of GOT are also available in the market. Well, the beers of Game of Thrones are made by HBO in partnership with Brewery Ommegang. But beer in GOT came from Westeros and when it comes to drinking, you know that most of the GOT characters prefer wine.

1. Iron Throne

Iron Throne, a blonde ale, is the inaugural beer in the series and the result of a creative collaboration between Brewmaster Phil Leinhart and HBO. It is a beer based on the cultural phenomenon of Game of Thrones, exploring the ways to make that make the beer truly reflect aspects of the show.

2. Take The Black Stout

Like the very lives of the men of the night’s watch, this beer is dark, complex and bold. Inspired by the brotherhood of the Night’s Watch, Take the Black Stout was made to be deep, dark and complex like those who have sworn the oath to defend Westeros against threats from the north. The label depicts the Weirwood tree where Jon Snow recited the oath before joining the Night’s Watch.

3. Fire And Blood

Through its first three seasons, the critically acclaimed drama has become the biggest show on HBO. Named after the motto of House Targaryen, Fire and Blood is inspired by Daenerys Targaryen and her three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. To celebrate the rebirth of dragons, three different labels were created by the Game of Thrones visual effects specialists, each depicting one of Daenerys' feared dragons.

4. Valar Morghulis

When confronted with the most feared saying in high Valyrian, take a sip and choose your words wisely. In the world of Westeros, Valar Morghulis means “all men must die.” And it is the name of the latest beer in the range, decided after audience poll.

Beer and wines of Game of Thrones is the only way to get drunk while watching the show from now on. Every great fan will add this extension to their lives if they know that even special glasses titled Mother of Dragons, I drink and I know things, Hold the Door, etc. are available to enjoy the wines and beers. Exciting!

I wish HBO knew how badly we love the GOT costumes too! When GOT has reached its final climax and we no longer use the word ‘Dracarys’ every day, it will still linger because of these GOT themed products. We are hopeful that a clothing range will also come. And in this way, the beers, the wines and the costumes will make GOT immortal.

You can order the wines and beers as and when you want, but you need to wait for the costumes to add more to the thrill. And don’t play a drinking game where you drink whenever Cersei or Tyrion take a swig if the good stuff. Those two are experts, but you might die!

Drink safe!
