Lately, I've been feeling like playing through a game isn't enough to feel like it is finished. I just beat the Last of Us 1 Remastered on my PS4, awesome game; I also played through and beat the DLC, Left Behind.

I've been having a bit of a change of heart regarding the DLC and playing through them, but I haven't always thought about this when it came to certain games.

Shortly after beating Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger in Paradise, I didn't have knowledge of any of the DLC until they announced the Trial of the Dragon King which is DLC for said game.

I bought the season pass in light of this and decided that I'm not going to play the dlc until the rest of it comes to the game. This makes me remorseful for trying to run through the game, I just want to beat it so bad so I could move on but that wasn't the way.

My days of running through these games are long gone, I don't fear death and I know what awaits me on the other side. I figure like this, as long as I take care of myself and make it to old age, I won half the battle.

There is DLC coming out for all kinds of games and it is a huge disappointment when you can't show respect as a gamer because you're trying to move onto something else.

Incidentally, I've grown to love playing a game to its completion, DLC and all. That's the way a game should be enjoyed. I feel like re-learning and teaching myself patience when it comes to gaming takes me back to the old days where video games became a time-honored hobby that was time-consuming but in a good way.

I love video games, I have ever since I was 9 years old. I have an 8 year old and an 18 month old, it is my hope that they follow their old man into the video game realm. I'd love nothing more than my kids to succeed me to the throne and take my place upon it.

The DLC from any game should be enjoyed as much as the main game, if it's meant to be in the game then you have an obligatory duty to do the DLC and beat it in its completion.

Interestingly enough, Assassin's Creed Valhalla actually was the game that made me appreciate doing DLC for games. I mean, who doesn't want to use weapons that touched the hands of the gods themselves; I would.

Back in the old days, when I played Final Fantasy X, I used to want to skip the post game parts like sidequests of ultimate weapon attainment and learning the rest of the skills on the Sphere Grid.

I learned a very important lesson that day and that was this: don't be so quick to underestimate the difficulty of your enemies based on your own assumptions. The ultimate weapons are there for a reason and you know that going after them is important. That's why I started taking the DLC of games seriously. Just my two cents.
