Elden Ring has been out for a long while now, and I have researched various reports on the various gamers that are or were playing the game. Some have given up. And others, like myself, fought bravely to the bitter end and beat it.

Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 are a part of that family of games not to mention company. Well, I've had thoughts about trying Dark Souls 3 after beating Elden Ring. Nothing concrete, just a fleeting thought.

Upon realizing that the game schematics are the same across all the games including Sekiro: Shadow Dies Twice, I decided that I wasn't going to for the following 6 reasons:

  1. All of them play the same. Attack, block, counterattack and kill.

  2. You have to die a million times. There's no way around this, this is the way.

  3. Timing is everything. Use or lose it.

  4. Stronger weapons don't guarantee a win. Your shiny new Greatsword, will look like a short sword at best compared to the 2 - 3 hits from a boss's strongest attack.

  5. Exploration is everything. If you're not exploring, you're not learning.

  6. Money is a precious commodity. Don't spend it all one place or do even if you die, you're going to lose it anyway.

I've seen this same trend in all 'souls' games and with Elden Ring being the latest, that trend continues. Elden Ring is the ultimate Dark Souls game, there's no need to play any after it.

Personally, I'd hang up the concept of playing any more Dark Souls games after Elden Ring.

I'm sure there are some subtle differences that separates each Dark Souls game, but its not many from what I've seen. The algorithm of the games is all the same.

Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't play your favorite games if these are they, but I am saying is that I'd probably wouldn't especially after being mentally pushed to the brink of exhaustion.

Sometimes, its okay to go back down memory lane but sometimes it pays not to. After I beat Elden Ring, I swore I'd never pick up another Dark Souls anything after this.

There's some DLC or something that's supposed to dropping for the game in the future but I'm not so 'hungry' as to buy it. Sometimes, we need to remember that there are some games that should only be played once or through once in a while, a long while in the case of Elden Ring.

I'll never get how some of you can talk about doing a second playthrough, after I beat the Elden Beast and went back to the Roundtable Hold, I was like "nope, I'm done".

I get there's a lot of walking around and exploring but damn, Phantasy Star 4 didn't even tire me out this much.

Don't even get me started on the bosses. One boss in particular that everyone, except me, had trouble with was the Fire Giant.

Man, he was so easy. I mean, in the second phase of the fight when he did his meteor rain attack, I just got under him from behind thereby shielding me from a meteoric assault of deadly proportions.

I mean, Elden Ring isn't hard but it isn't easy, you will die a million times and you will work for it. Trust me. I wouldn't even pick up the mantle of playing another Dark Souls game after Elden Ring. Hell, Elden Ring is and should be it.
