Being an introvert is tough. It is like being all alone in the world, with no friends, and too socially unprepared to even try and make new friends.

And all the weekends of an introvert is spent by binge-watching on Netflix on a Saturday evening with a large pizza or swiping right on Tinder while sulking on your life with a tub of ice cream with no actual intention of ever starting a conversation with the ones you find a match with on Tinder.

Being an introvert doesn’t just affect your social life but it also affects your work life. Starting from being unpopular at your office, to losing projects to somebody who has more friends at the workplace just because your boss feels that you won’t be able to manage your team as you lack communication skills.

But what about when you don’t get selected for a job or even get a chance to go past your Interview round, just because you lack in the field of communication? That drops your confidence.

So, if you are an introvert, all you need to do is develop your communication skills.

1. Confidence

This is something you should first focus on if you are an introvert. Developing one’s confidence Is something that is most important for an individual, no matter which field he or she is in. Now, how do you work on your confidence? Here, is an easy solution for starters. Come out of your comfort zone and do one thing, every day, that scares you. We tend to fall into a routine with life and never really want to take up risks in life, which isn’t right. Sometimes, taking risks, even if you fail, can make you happy and at ease with yourself.

2. Know yourself

It is again a really important thing, which also helps in boosting confidence. Never pressurize yourself too much. Say to yourself that it’s okay to not be ‘The Perfect One', and it’s okay to fail. And make sure that the next time has to be better than the previous one because only you can be your best friend, your best enemy, and your best competitor. Know Your strengths and work on your weaknesses, but always remember to not be in a rush and to take up one thing at a time. Give yourself enough time to adapt to the new surroundings, but never stop pushing yourself to be a better individual.

3. Travelling Solo

Yourself is always your best and the most trustworthy, non-judgemental company for you. There are many benefits of traveling to places, all by yourself.

  • You get to discover new places, events, and things in whichever and whatever way you please, without fear of judgment, from anyone.
  • You get to meet interesting new people, and you can easily try and strike a conversation as they won’t be judging you.
  • You get to be acquainted with yourself more intimately.
  • You are less likely to feel strained.
  • You will have the time and inspiration to work on interesting new projects.

4. Training Programs

Apart from this, you can take part in training programs, or you will find how to develop communication skills in certain books.

  • Some programs include one on one development provided by a teacher.
  • Being an introvert is sometimes psychological too. So, you may also consider taking up counseling sessions.
  • Puzzle-solving or writing or describing a certain situation is also very fruitful programs that are conducted by professionals.

5. Give yourself enough time to think and imagine ideas

One of the greatest advantages that introverts have over other people is that introverts are naturally more creative than others. Because they get a lot of time to think about things and to be creative in their way.

Go with the flow of life and make it a priority to cut out some alone time. This is where most of your best ideas emerge -- ideas that are strong, exceptional, and will make you and your business stand out.

6. Mirror Exercise

Another exercise that might be helpful, is talking in front of the mirror for at least 30 minutes daily. That way you can have a speech practice while imagining an audience to be present in front of you. This can be of great help to the meetings that you are going to be a part of, in the future.

These ideas can empower an introvert and can help them have a better social and better work-life.
