I've been playing video games for a long time, 32 years, and if you don't mind my saying this, the people from the old world, their mental state is eroding.

Now, I say that because there are too many people who believe that video games should be in the hands of children alone until they outgrow them. But, that's where the mistake is, video games are not meant to be outgrown.

This is a stupid misconception regarding our adult self or that special someone telling us that we're too old to be playing video games. Okay, I get it. People who were unfortunate enough to grow up without playing a single video game might think that.

However, playing video games well into your old age has surprising benefits such as mental clarity, eternal youth, remembrance of things. As an added bonus, studies have shown that people in their 60s playing video games find that they live longer as opposed to laying in some hospital bed awaiting death.

I know we all are going toward that one day, but until then why not live it up in the video game world? One of the biggest magnets in the video game world is that there is always some new game coming or on the way.

I mean, how can a person not appreciate the update in video game news? I swore long ago that I'd be playing video games well into my 70s and beyond. I'll die playing video games and that's how I intend to meet my end.

Personally, dying in someone's old folks home is overrated. By the time I'm in my late 60s, I still plan on knowing my grandchildren's names including what separates them and who is the hottest video gamer on the circuit at that point (I hope it'll be me).

There are too many rash individuals listening to other people talk about how video games are not that great when video games are responsible for how some people respond to certain situations.

All I'm saying is, if you got time to get in trouble with the law then you got time to find a job, get a gaming console and spend time learning something new in the gaming world.

My wife knows that video games are my everything, but I also make time for her and the children as well. I don't ignore my family but I do make it known that dad needs a little time to do him.

Both of my children understand this, so there's no problem in that regard and my wife pushes me to plug up when I'm stressed or need a break from the computer.

And I feel that's what separates the haves from the have nots, personal interests. Incidentally, I'd suffer a loss of identity if I didn't have video games. But, being self taught and gifted in video games, I've learned that if you can teach yourself to play any video game, you can teach yourself how to beat any video game.
