India boasts about becoming the next super power. Maybe that can very well happen in the future, with the rate of development going on in the nation. With rapid developments taking place, one still can’t deny the fact that, the issue of power outages is still far from over in India.

With power outages still common in many parts of the country, there is a heavy reliance on a backup power source, i.e. inverters, especially in the residential settings. There are two kinds of high-capacity inverters, solar and non-solar, and the demand for both the variants is growing.

The total demand for the solar inverters in India will reach USD 1,199 million by the end of this decade, and the non-solar inverters will reach USD 760.1 million.

In this blog, we will focus on the different types of solar inverters going around the Indian market.

 On-Grid

On-grid solar inverters not just converts DC current into AC current, but it shuts the power supply from the solar system, when there is no power from the grid.

This feature of shutting down the solar system is known as Anti-Islanding Protection. If the electricity comes and a there is still work going on the fault site, it could be a risk. Due to this, it is mandatory to have Anti-Islanding.

 Off-Grid

These variants have a battery backup. Off-grid solar inverters work autonomously of the grid. They deliver sufficient amount of energy to power coolers, AC, and other home appliances

A 1kW off-grid variant is able to take care of the power requirements of an average Indian family. Though, if a 1HP pump is to be run, there is a need for a minimum of 3 kilowatt off-grid solar inverter.

String Solar

These are connected to a string of inter-linked rooftop solar panels. Currently, these are popular of solar inverters in Asia, Australia, Europe and the UK. It is getting popular, but still the demand for this kind of solar inverters is still in its primitive state, if we talk about India in particular.

So, if one still wants to get his/ her hands on this inverter, it is better to buy it from the pioneers of it, to say the least.

Micro- Solar

These solar inverters are generally referred to as ‘micros. They have a direct connection with a solar panel for converting direct current DC into a usable current.

These micros are excellent options for solar panels laid down on rooftops. It can be easily said that micros are currently the finest solar inverter alternative in terms of efficiency.

 Hybrid Solar

These are just like string solar inverters. Though, there is a need for a direct connection to a storage battery system for advanced self-sufficiency. So, they are called battery-ready inverters.

The inverter companies always try to manufacture hybrid inverters with a basic power backup. They are expensive; though, with tech advancements, companies are doing their best to reduce the cost.

With the problem of power outage, still being an issue to be addressed, the demand for high- capacity inverters will continue to rise at a rapid rate.
