So get ready to submerge yourself in one day's patriotism.
On 15th August, our inner patriotic hero, who's evolved from external influences of nationalism, is ready to showcase its fragile patriotism.
As we'll turn our head around, attractive tricolor paper flags will be hosted by one and all. Some people will carry a flag in their hands, while some will fix the flag in their vehicles.
Some will put it on the railings of their balconies while some will paste them on the doors of their offices. Each and every corner of the nation will be filled with the presence of our beloved Indian Flag.
We'll see national flags in every corner, every crossroad, every shop, and every single place imagined.
The majority of us are going to exhibit our allegiance towards our nation, by some of the other temporary ways, which actually, is seasonal for most of us, but, as it relates with affection towards the nation, so all of this sound’s pretty acceptable.
But, is it really acceptable?
Is it really justified?
Further, is it really patriotic?
The answer is, NO.
An individual doesn’t need any particular day to show affection towards his or her mother, and here we are talking about our Motherland. Thus, it clearly seems unreal, and any such thing which has an essence of unreality, could not be patriotic.
If it is defined clearly, it's just fakeness!
Some wear flag pins on their shirts, because it enhances their look, while some kids carry flags in their hands because it was mandatory in their schools. But, has anybody tried to elaborate the meaning of this flag to their children, or to themselves?
A majority hasn't!
And that's the place where the problem lies. This problem is so big, that eventually, it brings this fakeness, in an immense number of individuals, who are going to be the future of our nation. Furthermore, some people look up to it as a holiday, while some plan a movie. But, as said, fakeness doesn't last forever.
And that's what exactly happens, just after patriotic day, that is, either 27th January or 16th August. We come out of our houses with enthusiasm, as it is a new day for us, but surprisingly, we again see flags all around us.
But now, the scenario is a bit different. Those patriotic actors are missing, that one-day patriotism vanishes, and that fake love towards our motherland is relinquished.
To confirm this, you can look around and find our Indian tricolor in the garbage, in the gutter, being trampled on the road, or torn into pieces. Hence, just that one day old feeling of patriotism is replaced by humiliation. Because, a thing which should be carried on our head, sadly, is lying near our feet.
Moreover, there is one more thing that happens, as some responsible intellectual morons, throw it in dustbins.
This is the actual hideousness. We show hideousness towards our country’s pride, in the name of patriotism. To get over this vandalism, we need to understand what pride really is.
We need to understand that tricolor is not just a piece of paper. We need to understand that an army man who's fighting on frontiers, is just because of this flag.
Certainly, we need to understand, it is one of the most respected country’s symbols. It symbolizes courage, fertility, growth, and auspiciousness. Conjointly, it represents our, as well as, our country’s pride!
A humble request to each and every one of you, please stop showing this fake enthusiasm. Instead of carrying the flag, or pinning up in our shirts, or even, sending copy-pasted, forwarded patriotic messages, learn the actual meaning of this flag, and educate each and everyone around us.
If you really want to show respect towards your motherland, then please, on 26th January or 15th August, either you carry a flag or not, but, on 27th January or 16th August, if you see any flag being trampled on the road, then please pick it up, and keep somewhere safe.
Get up. Take an oath. Change yourself from this patriotic day as change begins with us!
