We are living in a digital era of new-age technologies and digitalization. Social media is one of those cultures of the digital age that has impacted humans globally. Not only in India, but social media platforms have also gained popularity almost everywhere around the globe. It let people connect more, share what they felt, form communities, celebrate events, etc. By this

time, several social media platforms had introduced many new features and activities to make their apps more engaging. People in India like to use them, spend their time with them, and interact more.

Though social media has impacted people of all age groups, I am going to mention the effects of social media on youth and younger generations. Young minds in India are getting to connect instantly through social media, which makes it easier to have more friends. One grows his/her talent by presenting it on social media, as social media behaves as a platform to magnify creativity. The youth are developing their own voice by speaking on certain issues of society that get discussed on social media platforms. Certain career opportunities are also flourishing due to social media and are considered full-time opportunities by the younger generation.

Well, every coin has two sides. Likewise, social media also impacts youth positively as well as negatively. Extensive use of social media leads to situations like distance from reality, a sense of loneliness, and depression. There are several reports presented that reveal that youth are suffering from depression and that various mental health problems are caused. On the other side, scrolling feeds continuously for long hours and a lack of physical activity may cause health problems like obesity. Moreover, disturbances caused by notifications lead to frequent distractions during study time. Whereas there is always a possibility of getting trapped in threats like cyber fraud and cyberbullying while using social media. There are many exemplary cases of cybercrimes through social media that are hovering in front of us.

At last, I would conclude that whether it is technology or social media, the way you use it can make it or break it.
