After twelve weeks, fifty hours of running and five hundred plus kilometers, something had to give.

I pulled all the stops for this last stretch; the homestretch.

I had to.

Laying out my running gear a week in advance. Searching for new routes and finding community to train with.

Laying out my running gear a week in advance. Searching for new routes and finding community to train with.

This half marathon training has tested me, scared me and excited me.

I have questioned my sanity, shed tears on those excruciating hill runs, spit curses during those demanding interval workouts.

But, it has disciplined me.

It taught me to keep my eyes on the goal. To quiet my mind in the midst of doubt and fear.

It has sharpened my focus.

Showed me the value in saying no.

Reinforced the significance of working with a coach and being open to learning and correction.

The importance of resting. Of staying the course. Of finishing.
