A Vacation Never Hurt Nobody:

So, I know there may be a bit of confusion because my last post was all about becoming this machine to improve my health, but on any journey there needs to be time made for rest and relaxation. My biggest issue with my health journey has been consistency, the ability to keep going. So, of course when the time came for my impending vacation to celebrate a close friend's birthday, I was a little worried.

To most people a vacation would be a great thing, a time to have some fun and let the proverbial hair down. For me though, sadly, it's an opportunity to give up. It's been about a week since the trip yet still I haven't worked out a day since and it took me half the week to unpack. At first it made me feel really defeated. Here I was again, sneaking back into my lazy ways, but then I had an epiphany! I was not just "falling back into being lazy" I was punishing myself for having fun when I don't believe I've "made it" yet. So, I decided to just push those feelings right aside and instead celebrate my vacation! So enjoy, "A Weekend in Wine Country."

Where Every Good Time Starts:

So of course, the first thing I had to do before hitting the road was book a little surgery! And yes, I'm referring to my haircut! Before my current barber I never really understood exactly why that was the slang so many people chose to use, but since I've been going to my new barber, I've completely come to see it as a part of my self-care ritual! I chose for this trip to take a risk and throw in a fun little part to jazz it up! I don't want to toot my own horn, but I felt EXTREMELY handsome! To say I was ready for a weekend of shenanigans was an understatement!

Hitting the Road:

So the background remover wouldn't let my luggage be great (lol) but here's my least favorite part of a trip, hitting the road there! Not only do I detest the packing, but I always feel like when you're traveling TO a destination, it feels like it takes FOREVER! None the less, it was a beautiful ride up to "Michigan's Wine Country" Traverse City! The ride was filled with beautiful waterfront views and wonderful conversations!

Settling In:

Now prior to hitting the road our hostess with the mostest (aka the birthday girl) had individualized boxes that were a mystery to us. Upon arrival to the Airbnb we were able to open them and found out that our very first activity to settle in would be a "Pajama, Pamper, and Paint" party! We gathered round in matching pajamas and using the skincare items in our gift boxes along with paint materials and pumpkins we had a semi spooky pamper party! One thing about my friends they LOVE an activity! This one was perfect though because we all soon went off to bed and slept so hard you could hear a ghost boo in the house!

A Day to Remember:

The next day of the trip was the real crowned jewel! The entire premise behind the trip was to enjoy Michigan's Wine Country and we planned to do just that! Most of us were up bright and early eager to begin the festivities! And like any day should we began with a nice home cooked breakfast to start the day! My pumpkin made for an excellent seatmate!

After breakfast, we began to pregame and prepare for the vineyard we were going to for a wine tasting! This was honestly the highlight of the trip to me! Not only were the Rove Estate Vineyards beautiful and perfect for selfies, but the amount of wine that surrounded me made me feel at home (lmao).

After the vineyard we all drunkenly made our way back to the Airbnb so that we could prepare for our fabulous, themed dinner! We patroned Bourbon 72 a nice steakhouse attached to a casino, that gave us a great meal and even greater cocktails!

Grand Opening, Grand Closing:

And so, the next day our trip had come to an end. I went into the vacation feeling bad for taking any time off working towards my goals, but while there and after I realized that I needed it! I was so happy celebrating my friend and making memories that will last forever. I loved dressing up and going out and just not having a care in the world! My vacation was an absolute success and now we get back to the grind, but now I'm more rested and ready to push! I hope you all enjoyed my trip to Wine Country at a glance! Please come back for the next post!
