You want to remember more than just the things you want to forget. To be able to sift through your memories and sort them into good ones and bad ones. You long to rekindle the sparks and the fireworks, rainbows, and butterflies.
But everything is tainted. Tainted with a sticky film of hatred. Tainted with the briefness of ecstatic; a sweet slice of heaven just before the lethal storm hit with full force. Events blur together; dirtied and soiled by the terror and pain.
It hurts because it isn't there anymore. But how can you miss something that never existed?
