The Boys: Homelander vs Butcher
I started my journey as now a loyal fan to the hit Amazon Prime TV show “The Boys” this past April, and it is safe to say that this show has revolutionized my ideology of how a superhero show or content of it in general is supposed to run.
Within the show, we of course have the evil Superman trope who believes they are better than ordinary mankind itself, with that being in Homelander.
Homelander is an absolute maniac, and that would be a compliment at the very least. Throughout the show, Homelander has committed actions which we have seen lead into some very intense moments.
Such as when Homelander dated Stormfront, who revealed to him that she was a Nazi, which he seemed to shrug off and continued dating her. When Starlight released to the public her background, everyone went crazy about the breakthrough and started hating him after that.
A significant moment in the show that was another result of Homelander’s actions was when he slept and got pregnant Billy Butcher’s wife 8 years prior to the present day.
This of course drove Butcher to a life of vengeance against Homelander, and having an understandable hatred for superheroes in general.
Butcher is so committed to his hatred, he travelled to a heavily armed and guarded Russian facility to acquire a weapon capable of destroying Homelander for good known as “BCL-RED”, thanks to Queen Maeve’s sources.
With this weapon being discovered to be a not so dead Soldier Boy, him, Butcher, and Hughie all team up to fight and kill Homelander after Herogasm was destroyed by Soldier Boy.
When Butcher and Homelander fought, you could feel a rivarly so strong and unique, you would never want there to be a moment when these two would run into each other and not fight to the death.
The reason that their rivalry is unique is because both sides have strong reasons supporting their hatred for one another. Homelander hates Butcher because he took his son Ryan away from him, and he is kind of the reason that his love Stormfront is dead, whereas Butchers reason is more understandable and all started because of Homelander because he slept with his wife Becca.
This week is the finale of season 3 of the show, which is crazy considering how fast time has flew for this season. It was revealed that we would be getting a Homelander vs Butcher rematch this episode, which has me impatiently counting down the hours until Friday hits.
Especially after the end of last episode when Soldier Boy informs Homelander that they are father and son, I need to watch this episode right away because I have a feeling we are now going to get Homelander and Soldier Boy, against Butcher and Hughie.
