“Aao leke chalun tumko, bachpan ki un galiyon me, jahan rang hai, yaar hai, fursat hai,
Shayad inme kahin tumko, tum milo, Chalo kahoon tumse mai, Meri Kahani”
Mom wants his son to be a doctor, dad wants him to be an engineer. His passion was to become a fast bowler and win a cricket world cup for his country, like his idol Imran Khan did. But what he finally became was a Singer, a renowned singer.
But is this the right word to describe him? Well! The answer is No. He is not just a singer, he is the heartbeat of millions of people all around the globe. He occupies more than 60% of everybody’s playlist. Unable to guess who he is? I will let you know.
His name is Atif Aslam, our Romeo Singer, the voice behind Jab Koi Baat, Dil Diyan Gallan, Tere Sang Yaara, Pehli Nazar, Aadat and so many romantic songs.
The Man You Know, The Journey You Won’t
After completing his school education, he expressed his passion to be a fast bowler in front of his family. Like most of the other parents of that time, he was forced to do further studies and get some high-profile job.
Meanwhile, after his boards, he gave a trial in a cricket stadium and got selected as a fast bowler for the Pakistan Under-19 team. But had to drop this opportunity because of family pressure. He completed his engineering from computer science in the late 90s but knew nothing about it.
While pursuing graduation, he discovered another talent residing in him, singing. His first performance was for the Independence Day function at his college in the year 1998. From then onwards, he started singing at the birthday parties of his friends and also participated in various competitions where he became popular for his melodious voice.
The song “Gulabi Aankhein” was sung by him in a birthday party of his friend and was uploaded on Youtube by someone in the party. However, the video gained popularity only after his first official recorded song, Aadat was out.
His first song “Aadat” was recorded for Rupees 15k which he saved from his pocket money collection of 5-6 years. The song became an anthem for music lovers. Soon after this, he got a call from Mahesh Bhatt, requesting him to come India and record a song for his movie, Kalyug.
This was the turning point of his life. The fame and exposure he got from there, has not seen an end till now. Giving back-to-back hits and occupying the playlists of thousands of people, he became one of the most popular singers in the early 21st century.
Atif Aslam also received Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, which means a star of excellence, in 2008 and was the fourth-highest decoration given to civilians in Pakistan. And he is worthy of it.
March Is Very Special To Him And His Fans
Coming to his personal life, the month of March is really special for him. There is not just one, but three reasons why March is special to him.
The first one is that Atif was born on March 12, 1983. Later in 2013, when he tied the knot with Sarah Bharwana on March 28, he got the second special reason.
He met his wife as a young girl at a family wedding. She had been a constant support to him, being by his side for more than 5 years.
A year later, the beautiful couple was blessed with a baby boy. He was born on March 7, 2014, contributing to the third reason which makes March so very special to Atif Aslam. The junior Atif is named, Ahad Atif.
Aadeez Are None Other Than Fans Of Atif
The nickname of Atif in childhood was “Aadee” so his fans usually call themselves as “Aadeez”. Isn’t that cool! Not only cricket or music, Atif’s hidden talent also includes sketching and acting. His college mates have revealed that in his free time, he loved to sketch and had a beautiful collection of his own creations. This speaks a lot about his creative insight.
Not only appearing in music videos, but Atif also did a Pakistani movie, Bol. Urdu and Hindi were not a constraint for him. Atif also sang a song in Bengali, Mithe Alo.
Well! to summarise, we can say that Atif’s career was started like “Kaun Hoon Mai, Kiski Mujhe Talash” and got boosted up like “Pehli Nazar Mein Kaisa Jaadu Kar Diya, Tera Ban Baitha Hai Mera Jiya”.
His latest song O Saathi, from the movie Baaghi 2, was released earlier this week on March 9. It has already created a romantic environment and had set the mood of Aadeez for his birthday.
At last, all I wanna say is that “Hona Tha Pyaar, Hua Mere Yaar” and “Tu Chahiye Tu Chahiye, Shaam-O-Subah Tu Chahiye”
