This is the story of Russia’s most notorious serial killer couple Dmitry and Natalia Baksheev also called The that used to kill and eat people and go as far as pickling the body parts in a jar. Their reign of terror spanned over 3 decades and when they finally got caught the police found body parts and pictures of the dismembered victims from the house.

Early Life

Dmitry Baksheev (born January 28, 1982 — February 16, 2020) and Natalia Baksheeva (born January 25, 1975) are from Krasnodar, Russia. Natalia worked as a senior nurse in the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School’s sanitation department until being sacked due to severe alcoholism. Dimitry worked as a flat repairman and general laborer. He had a run-in with the law when he committed robbery and car theft, but all of his convictions had been expunged by the time of the murder. Natalia met her first husband who was working as an officer in the same Military Aviation School. She had a son at the age of 23 and soon after that, his husband died, leaving the military quarters in her name. Natalia and Dimitry dated for five years and got married later.

How did they got caught?

The couple first came to the attention of authorities in 2017, when construction workers found a mobile phone with disturbing images on it. The images included dismembered bodies and a man posing with a severed hand in his mouth. The phone was traced back to Dmitry Baksheev, and when police searched his apartment, they found even more evidence of his and Natalia’s crimes. Human remains were found throughout the flat, including pickled body parts in jars and a freezer full of human flesh. Over several years, the pair reportedly killed and dismembered at least 30 victims. They targeted people who are homeless or from online dating websites.

The trial of Dmitry and Natalia Baksheev began in January 2018 and lasted for several months. The couple was charged with several crimes, including murder, cannibalism, and the desecration of human remains. They were found guilty on all counts and sentenced to life imprisonment. Dmitry later died in prison due to a tuberculosis complication on February 16, 2020.

Conclusion

Their crimes have shocked the world and sparked important conversations about mental health, online safety, and the need for greater awareness of the signs of potential danger. While their crimes may be hard to understand or comprehend, we must continue to work towards a world where such atrocities are never repeated.
