We’ve all watched movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Sholay, 3 Idiots and the latest one Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. But what is common among them? Yes. Their friendship.

All these movies depict the extent to which one can go in friendship - to help a friend, to back a friend, to support a friend and even to kick a friend. But these all are male-centric films.

And Aamir Khan said, 'Hamari chhoriyan chhoro se kam hei ke?'

How can Bollywood step back from this famous dialogue? It was time that we have some female-centric film to define friendship of girls. And Veere Di Wedding is all about it - the friendship, the bond and the love - that girls have.

Veere Di Wedding review begins here

It is not only boys who are best friends. Girls can be 'veeres' too. The writers Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri showed their efforts in writing the perfect story of female friendship. And the director Shashank Ghosh captured it with the best angles.

Meet Veere Di Wedding quartet

The movie starts with the quartet having the last day at their school. They celebrate that day and discuss their future. Avni (Sonam Kapoor Ahuja) is in love with a guy named Arjun and is planning to go to Pune to study law.

Shikha (Swara Bhaskar) is just focused on her vacation to Prague to spend her father’s money and have fun. Meera (Shikha Talsania) is worried that her uncle wants her to enter matrimony. Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor Khan) doesn’t ever want to get married due to her parents’ constant fights and strife.

These girls live a confused life for a long time

A decade later, we see that Avni is a successful Divorce Lawyer, Meera is married to a firangi, John and has a son, Sakshi left her husband and lives with her parents and Kalindi is in a live-in-relationship with Rishabh (Sumeet Vyas).

Rishabh proposes to Kalindi and she freaks out at first, but then agrees to marry him. They both return to Delhi from Australia. Kalindi's’ in-laws are quite rich and her mother-in-law along with her friend cum neighbour, plans for a big fat Indian wedding. It means with a lot of showbaazi.

Finally, an all-girls trip gives them time to find solutions

The quartet decides to go on an all-girls trip to have a bachelorette party at Phuket. They enjoy and have fun. Each of them discusses their problems. They return to Delhi and Kalindi learns that her (would be) father-in-law is arrested and is in jail. Avni helps the family and gets bail for him.

Then Rishabh along with Kalindi agrees to have a simple wedding at Kalindi’s old home. They have a simple wedding and Kalindi is seen as a beautiful bride dressed in her mother’s lehenga. That is the Veere Di Wedding story that becomes the film’s title.

Veere Di Wedding is a mixture of glamour and humour

It is not based on finding love but on finding joy. It is a complete mixture of drama, comedy, emotion, glamour, and humour. Their friendship is all emotional and binds their survival.

These girls are too bold and aren’t afraid to call each other bullshit, comment on each other’s sex lives and know how to end trivial. Each actress nailed her role in their respective characters. Be it Sakshi or Swara, or Kareena or Sonam, each one fits into her role.

The fashion statements in the movie are too glamorous with Kareena leading it and Swara following the brigade. The movie is an answer to all the male-cantered movies.

It is also an answer to Pyaar Ka Punchnama series

Veere Di Wedding not just performed well at the box office but also showed how well girls can deal with their friendship.

We’ve all shared bathroom stalls with girlfriends and walked the ‘Walk of Shame’.

We’ve gone on girls’ trips to cut loose and encouraged our girlfriends to try new things.

We’ve kept each other’s secrets and consoled each other in low times.

These women are funny, but they also feel deeply. They are sexy but also goofy. They are real girls.

And, real girls do swear, party hard and talk about sex!

It’s pitched as a comedy and the movie can be watched for a crazy ride with your girlfriends.

And who can forget the bold acting of Swara Bhaskar breaking the stereotypes and nailing her character?

After all it’s all, about ‘charm sukh’!
