Before the 1996 election, Rajinikanth met Former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao and was offered by him to enter politics. However, the actor refused, saying that he doesn't want to make money out of his image by joining politics. He even told the people who wanted him to join politics, not to be disappointed by his decision.

Rajinikanth's Announcement

However, in the last week of December 2017, we had good news coming with the new year. Any guesses?

Rajinikanth decided to join politics in the ‘Shivaji - The Boss' style. And then, he launched a new party and has got its website too. He will have his candidates standing for all 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, and will resign, failing their duties towards the nation.

Isn't it confusing? An independent party to contest the elections with Rajinikanth as their leading face? A similar kind of campaign that we saw when BJP came to the center?

Well, before Rajinikanth took such a step, many Tamil movie stars have contested elections and won in Tamil Nadu. Thus, the fans have declared him the winner already, making elections just a formality.

With the minimalistic number of tweets (110), the Thalaiva star has 44.4 lakh followers on Twitter and over 85 Fan clubs. You wouldn't be amazed if you see a clear majority win of Rajnikant's party in the future. But why?

Reasons Behind The Move

There may be two prime reasons behind this resolute decision of Superstar Rajinikanth.

One, utilizing the opportunity to be the strongest leader in Tamil Nadu. After Jayalalitha's death, AIADMK has seen continuous disturbances and a sharp downfall. Tamil Nadu is in need of a strong and united Government.

Two, creating a hype in public before the release of his upcoming movie, 2.0. The movie promotion needs to be super grand so that it beats Rajinikanth's wish of beating Baahubali's records. With less than a month left for the release of 2.0, the concern is genuine.

Big Questions

But is the public still after cinema stars?

Will Rajnikant lose his deposit amount?

Is politics as easy as acting?

Or is it a publicity stunt?

If you ask the fans, for a person whose movie run packed houses for a week with huge demand for tickets in every part of Tamil Nadu, gaining power or promoting a film was never a priority. He always wanted to enter into politics to do service to people.

But the big question is, will the people possess the same thought and principle?

Seeing the history of Tamil Nadu and leaders from Tamil Nadu Film Industry, politics in Tamil Nadu is way more complex than it seems to be. He may be a superstar but he is unaware of politics. This may be the very reason why the public will not want to make him the CM, preventing a man-made disaster.

At an age of 67, people look out for retirement. Changing the career is not welcomed by the people at large. He has never shown any administrative skills either, and educated people will look out for capability.

The influential politics like the one tried by BJP with Modi Ji's face, is a clear warning to Indians in Tamil Nadu. Put your vote wisely.
