The bell bottoms pants, the polka dots print and hairstyles, everything that was shown on the silver screen used to leave an impact on the viewers. This is the reason why 80’s is considered the 'Golden Era’ for Indian cinema.
If we talk about the retro songs, their endangered existence is a topic to worry. On this, renowned lyricist, Javed Akhtar said in an interview, “The songs by Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, these are our cultural heritage.”
But does youth consider them as our cultural heritage? Or the essence of retro songs is being destroyed by remixing?
Feeding Trends conducted a small poll on Instagram to check if ‘Youngistaan’ still listens to vintage songs or not. And the response was surprising. Here's what we found.
1- Aajkal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche:
It was so good to see this song top the list with 100% yes. And why shouldn’t it be? Shammi Kapoor was at his best!
2 - Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se:
The older version is still loved by youth. It is one song that beautifully describes love at first sight.
3 - Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai:
The superhit romantic song from the movie Kati Patang in the voice of Kishore Da still tops the charts.
4 - Mere Sapno Ki Rani:
Every Romeo has wooed his Juliet by singing this song. Everyone expected someone like Sharmila Tagore to walk into their life. How can anyone miss on this?
5 - Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhagi Si:
The original voice in this song is far better than auto tuned voice of today's singers. It is a favourite because of its voice modulation.
6 - Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi:
This song has the most soulful lyrics and soothing rhythm. It describes every relationship, from brotherhood to love and so, our youth can't come over it.
7-Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge:
40 years later and this song is still a classic! Although youth has a new friendship anthem, yet the majority of them loves this song. In fact, you can find many of them singing this while riding their bikes.
8- O Mere Dil Ke Chain:
You fall more in love once you listen to this song. It is a must listen song in almost every situation of life.
9-Chala Jata Hun Kisi Bhi Dhun Mein:
The song is totally relatable for the modern-day entrepreneurs, who have dreams of beloved and ambitions of success driving them crazy.
10-Mehbooba Mehbooba (Sholay):
This song can convert Gangadhar into Gabbar. Isn't it? One of its kind item song, Mehbooba Mehbooba filmed Helen at her best.
11- Wada Karo Nahi Chodoge Tum Mera Saath:
It has everything that a Lata Mangeshkar Kishore Kumar duet must have. The music of Panchamda was way ahead of time and so it lasts forever.
12 -Chandni O Meri Chandni:
We all know how to dance to this song. Thanks to the Jumping Jack of Bollywood. And thanks to Yash Chopra for giving this film to us.
13- Apki Nazro Ne Samjha:
The whole idea of this song is quite ahead of its time and even compared to date. In a time when only the male proposed to a female, we seldom hear such an amazing song thanking the guy to have accepted a lady.
14 - Tune O Rangeele Kaisa Jadu Kiya:
It is such an unmatched composition that it takes us back into golden period of Bollywood. A song that every girl sings when she falls in love, assuming her dream man to be ‘Rangeele’.
15 - Raat Kali Ek Khwaab Mein Aai:
It's amazing to see that at that era someone dared to cast dark skinned actors, whom Bollywood these days paints! The lyrics and screenplay win our hearts.
16- Rang barse:
This song is still the holi favourite song and will hopefully retain its position in the coming years.
17- Julie Julie:
Julie Julie, Anu Malik, Grand Master Mithunda. Totally Bombastic! Who doesn't likes to dance like mad max on this song?
18- Chadti Jawani:
Girls which song do we dance on at our house parties? This song of course! But when this song was out for the first time, we were not even born.
19- Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaye:
Super hit song from the 1971 movie Anand, gives strong inspiration to everyone who is struggling with their life. Happy feeling wala song!
20 - Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aja:
Mithun da with his fabulous dnce moves once again! Well done Bappi Lahiri. You have made this song famous even outside India.
21 - Meri Bheegi Bheegi Si:
Disappointed to see this song at the last. But I am happy that at least it's there on the top 21.
