“If it wasn’t for the last minute, nothing would ever get done.” Few people take this statement way too seriously. Nothing makes them more productive than the last minute, moment or hour.

They have a legacy of always doing things at the eleventh hour. And they have become so habitual that no force, no scolding, no thrashings can bring them back on track.

Here are a few ‘last minute winning’ things that we Indians are used to doing:

1. Catching a train when it has already left from the platform

Many of us have never travelled in a train by getting into the allotted coach, for we have always caught the train at the ‘last minute’, that too by getting into the coach that was available right in front of us. Until the train moved, our conversations never stopped and we don't get displaced.

2. Preparing for the exams by waking up the entire night before

This is something, everyone has done. Until the last day or the last few hours to write the exam beg us for revision, nobody sits to study. The ‘last minute’ fight, common to every student. Amazed? Never to been to an engineering college or what?

3. Deciding a dress for a party just when the car horn blows

Irrespective of the time - a day, a week or a month ago, when the invitation came to them, we will always sit confused till the last moment wondering what to wear. This is not the case with just girls. Boys do this too. After all, looking good is a priority these days.

4. Getting up from bed only when it’s actually too late to reach on time

Spending the cozy hours of the night with their beloved gadget deprives us of timely sleep. The alarm clock fails in its multiple attempts to remind us that we pushed the alarm on before sleeping last night. We will go on snoozing the alarm until a few minutes are left to reach their school or office.

5. Wander in the streets until a call from home informs about the lock

The moment ‘home calling’ flashes on the screen, there is a sudden rush of anxiety and fear that forces us to notice time and trace back the path to home at the fastest possible pace. That is the ‘last minute’ race everyone has run at least once. Don't shy away now.

How many of these have been or are a part of your life? (You don’t need to be ashamed of it. We all are sailing in the same boat.)
