My weight loss journey part 1

When I was 16, I lost my brother to a car accident. After that time, I gained weight slowly over the years. I think it was mostly depression from the sudden death that caused me to gain so much. My top weight was 245 pounds. When I was 24 I was so depressed and angry but I decided I would get the weight off. I joined a gym and religiously went for 45 minutes to an hour pretty much everyday. I began eating better sometimes and fasting sometimes. In about 6 months I had dropped to 140 pound. I gained a lot of confidence, got mostly out of my depression and started living a better life. I met my girlfriend at the time, later broke up and met a new girl. I ended up marrying the second. Over the last 10 or so years, the weight has slowly come back on. I hit 245 again and decided I have to change. I did a diet and exercise routine for 2 months and dropped back to 200. Life got in the way and I went back to 221. I am currently at 221 and trying to lose it again. I am hoping that writing this will help keep me on track and motivate me to be honest about what I am doing correctly and where I am failing.

Last night instead of having a pizza or a lot of fried chicken, french fries or mac and cheese like I would on an average night, I made some stir fry with broccoli, peppers, onion and mushrooms. I also had green beans and butter beans. I had 4 smaller portions of fried chicken(I know not healthy). This isn’t perfectly healthy but its probably half the calories I would have eaten before and a lot more vegetables.

Nothing I do on this journey is from a recommendation of a doctor or health care instructor. I am not neither. If you decide to make a lifestyle change, consult a Doctor or health care professional.

Here is an example of a meal I made.

And these are my photos of my starting weight.
