Mohamed Salah's double helped Liverpool beat Brentford and continued the Egyptian's incredible start to the season - only Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand and Thierry Henry had begun such campaigns with such gusto!

Darwin Nunez had two early efforts disallowed for offside before playing Salah into play at half time to break the deadlock and make history.

After an uneven start to their campaign, which included draws with Luton Town and Toulouse in Europa League action, Liverpool finally found their groove at Anfield. Mohamed Salah scored twice to set a new club record while Diogo Jota added another late on for Jurgen Klopp's side against Thomas Frank's relegation fighters at Anfield. Diogo Jota then sealed victory by scoring late himself to give Liverpool their eighth successive victory against Thomas Frank's men battling relegation battlers Thomas Frank's relegation battlers Diogo Jota later added his third late on for victory over Thomas Frank's Thomas Frank-led Thomas Frank side.

After 39 minutes, Salah opened the scoring with a brilliant left-foot shot into the bottom corner from outside of the area. Shortly afterwards he doubled their advantage after an incredible pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold enabled him to race clear before shooting home again. Salah then scored his third after Brentford players appealed with the linesman after Kostas Tsimikas' cross appeared to sail past its intended post; upon review VAR determined otherwise and Salah made no miscalculation with his header goal.

Goal 2

Mo Salah reached 100 goals in England as Liverpool moved into second place ahead of Tottenham and Newcastle thanks to a convincing win against Brentford. Mo scored twice during each half, with Diogo Jota adding another goal as they maintained their unblemished home record.

After suffering through two disappointing performances against Luton Town and Toulouse in the Europa League, Salah finally found his scoring touch again against Brentford. On 39 minutes he nodded a fine header past goalkeeper Marek Flekken to open scoring.

Virgil van Dijk and Alisson provided solid defensive performances, but it was youngster Darwin Nunez who opened up Salah's second goal. The Uruguay international controlled Trent Alexander-Arnold's piercing pass towards the edge of the area before sliding in Salah for an easy finish.

Goal 3

Mohamed Salah scored twice either side of half-time to break down Brentford and secure Liverpool victory within 39 minutes, becoming only the third player behind Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer to score or assist in all 15 home Premier League matches for Liverpool.

He put them ahead early with a low shot from just inside the box that found its way past Marko Flekken, before heading in his second after Kostas Tsimikas sent it over for him to head in at the back stick.

Liverpool maintained their perfect home record this season at Anfield with this win and set up an anticipated table-topping clash against Manchester City next weekend. Furthermore, Jurgen Klopp provided further proof that his young side can compete with some of England's top teams.

Goalkeeper

Jurgen Klopp decided not to use his bench, giving Cody Gakpo his debut in midfield. The youngster performed admirably early on, including making an important sliding block against Brentford corner-kicker Bryan Mbeumo.

At first, it appeared as though home side Darwin Nunez would see his goal disallowed when he nodded home Kostas Tsimikas' cross, only for an assistant to raise their flag for offside and VAR to uphold this decision.

Alisson came to his side's rescue once again as visitors threatened a second goal. He swiftly came out to push away an acrobatic effort from Mbeumo before producing one of his best saves of the season: palming Ethan Pinnock's volley over the crossbar! In addition, Alisson later denied Matty Taylor an effort on goal after halftime.

Substitutions

Jota made an impactful late substitute appearance, receiving an enthusiastic reception as his goal marked three in two games for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp this season.

Salah had the chance for a hat-trick late on but his header from Kostas Tsimikas was disallowed due to offside, marking only his second such effort this season. Still, Salah managed to net two goals before heading it home himself shortly thereafter with ease via simple header. Additionally, his 200th English football goal arrived shortly afterwards due to defensive mix-up between Brentford players and Frank Onyeka which gave Salah enough time to take advantage of defensive miscommunication between Brentford players and Onyeka which secured victory while moving him ahead of Arsenal into second.
